Picked this up last night, sorry Marty!

Guy was asking $1500, I got him to $1200. Needs a tranny, when it warms up, it doesn't move. I have a tranny sitting on the garage floor, so it should be a quick fix. I bought it at dusk, so I couldn't see all the defects until this morning. I was surprised to see it has the rare camel interior. I was always dreading this because of the lack of availability of replacement parts. Since it does need some new key parts (headliner, carpet, center console), I think I'm going to swap the entire interior to gray. Yes it will be a lot of work, but it will make the car nicer in the long run. I'll also be able to get rid of the smoke smell, yuck. I think a green/gray car will sell better than a green/camel.

It does have dents, scratches and chips on all sides of the car. The front fender is pushed in by the headlight, the drivers door molding fell off (in the trunk with no scratches), tiny bit of rust under the gas cap, rear bumper is scratched and chipped everywhere, trunk lid is full of scratches, passenger door has scratches by the door handle, and passenger front fender is misaligned and caused the door to rub on it when openned.

Its not going to be a top dollar car, but it should be able to fetch at least $3500-3700, or a $2500 profit.

If you are wondering, this would be #6 Bonneville in the driveway right now, so I opted to keep it at a family's farm until I can get to it.

If I do the interior swap, I'll have all those camel parts for sale, so heads up Gumball, Rusgreim, and all you other Camel interiors.

I vote keep the camel if possible. Interiors other than grey/black are getting harder to come by. Though maybe the camel parts will be good to sell individually?

Ya its just not realistic to find the parts I need though. Finding a junkyard that will even pull the carpet, let alone the color I need is next to impossible.

And yes, the camel parts will sell great individually.

Geez, how do you have spare time? Between finding, getting, fixing and class you don't have much, lol.

Looks like another good project.

I don't have time, hence the reason I have so many projects right now! I'm trying to get a little bit ahead in school so I can have a good 3-4 days to tinker on these.

That color will clean up very nicely! I'd love to get that interior color but I'd have to find a car with everything already and in good shape.

I bet Jim will likley be looking for some of those Camel pieces though!

Looking forward to some the progress.

I love watching these come together.
I agree on the Grey / Green being better to sell than the Camel / Green.
Im sure those camel pieces will sell well to the forum :)

Im sure you will clean it up good as usual Haro.

It's not about the car being better to sell, it's just that the camel needs a lot of parts that he won't be able to find, but he has at least one complete gray interior in his possession (probably 2-3), and that he will be able to relatively quickly sell the good parts from the camel interior.

Is there a molding for the driver's side door, or will you have to remove all of them?

Green meshes with the camel much better, IMO.

I do, but I dont have the heated seats so the shift bezel is different, I need a drivers seat, but that one doesnt look any better than mine.

I know looking for 10 year old parts in good shape is getting tougher and tougher each year though.

This car has an interesting problem. I'm not really sure if the entire tranny needs to be replaced, or if its fixable. Here are some details. Marty told me that the owner told him he had recently done a flush, and then soon after it started acting up. Once the tranny warms up, it won't move.

When I drove the car from the farm to my house, about 2 miles, it performed just fine. On a completely different day, when I drove it from my house to the shop, about 3 blocks, it started acting up by the time I got to the shop. I could barely get up the incline to drive into the garage, tranny was slipping bad. I shut it off, popped the hood to inspect things a little. It was not running for about 3 minutes, and then I started it up again, and the tranny was working fine, even though it was still up to temp.

Any ideas? Something plugging the fluid, bad solenoid? I'm gonna drop the pan and filter tomorrow to see whats inside. That will kinda determine if I try to fix it, or just put in a different tranny, which I already have.
