"Service Stability System
I'm looking for a favor.
Can any of you who have had this issue please let me know what you replaced or repaired to fix the problem with this warning coming on?
I'm currently unemployed and can't see spending 100.00 to find out that the problem might be a lose connection or the need to replace a 20.00 part.
Thanks again, I appreciate your help. Maybe if I can find out the more common causes, I can track it down myself without the high diagnostic expense.

Re: "Service Stability System
Usually the biggest offender of that problem is the steering wheel position sensor.

Re: "Service Stability System
Common Causes: Bad Wheel speed sensor (would also trigger ABS/Trac Off lights), Steering Wheel Sensor, Yaw Sensor. Or you could do like I do and just ignore it, lol. It won't affect your car's driveability, unless your ABS and Trac Off lights are on, then you won't have ABS, you just won't have stability control, like most cars on the road today. I know in my car's case it's the steering wheel sensor, I just haven't gotten around to either getting it fixed yet. None of the parts are $20, that I'll tell you.
Bye Bye:

Re: "Service Stability System
Thanks,
I didn't mention it, but they all come on at the same time, the Service Stability System warning in the DIC, the Traction Control light and the Anti-Lock brake light.
I'll start looking for a way to test the speed sensors. There's got to be a pulse or something that can be tested with a multi-tester.
Boy, poverty really sucks!!
Thanks Obama!!

Re: "Service Stability System
I replaced a bad/crispy wiring harness leading to the wheel speed sensor (did the wheel bearings later (@ $55 each CDN)) and all the codes disappeared. Took the harness form a Montana that was being junked and paid maybe $20 labour to install

Re: "Service Stability System
A Snap On scanner read my ABS codes and from that I determined the cause of all 3 lights, for me, was in the front right wheel speed sensor or the circuit leading to it. I spent the $100 at Autozone, and spent the 4th of July replacing it (and did front brakes while I had it apart), and now am code/light free. :D
Check for same voltage and resistance on both sides so you know that the circuit is fine til the sensor, before replacing it.
And if it is the WSS/hub assembly, they're cheaper on eBay... though I can't comment on quality/longevity.

Re: "Service Stability System
Mine would come on primarily when I had the front wheels turned and the right front wheel moved up and down over a slight change of grade. Then I remembered I had bumped the sensor with the wrench when loosing the bleeder. Over a period of months it would turn on the Service Stability System once in a while.
Eventually I had the front wheel off for rotation and pushed the sensor opposite the way I had pushed it with the wrench. Not sure what I might have changed. The light has never come back on..., knock on wood.

Thanks guys.
Dustin, can you tell me a little bit more about how you determined which WSS it was. What type scanner you used. What voltage and resistance you checked.
I'm confused.

Re: "Service Stability System
I had the part already before I checked out the harness to match it with the other side... I lucked out that it was actually the sensor.
My friend has a Snap-On (same brand as the tool) OBD2 reader. (I think its an MT2500) It scans for trouble codes (DTC's) and also ABS system trouble codes. I think a TechII scanner should be able to do this and more.... Anywho, the scanner read 3 ABS trouble codes that all said something about the front right wheel speed sensor.
Before I replaced the hub assembly, I should have pulled both wheels off and checked voltage where the wheel speed sensor (WSS) plugs into the connector, and made sure that it was the same one both sides. If it was different, the problem may have been somewhere other than the WSS... could have been upstream such as a bad wire or connector, or even ABS module.
