I'm getting a little pissed at the cars
Last weekend
Zilla: Repaired the stripped threads in my transmission, reinstalled Front Trans Mount #8 with improvements. Failed to find the cause of the 80+mph shimmy. Cleaned and reinstalled EGR.
SLEeper: Replaced the rubber hoses between the radiator and trans cooler for leaking. Cleaned out the lower shield to get rid of the trans fluid puddles.
This weekend
Zilla: Continue hunting for the cause of the 80+mhp shimmy, might have to wait until that 'shimmy speed' starts coming down/problem gets worse. Find out why I'm STILL throwing sporadic EGR codes, maybe have to chase down a replacement unit.
SLEeper: Replace the lower radiator hose that has probably been leaking for awhile, but I didn't notice until I cleaned up the trans fluid gunk last weekend. Pinhole leak about 3" back from the lower clamp on the radiator. Drain all the coolant, put it back.
LeSabre: Drain the 1000-mile-old oil, replace the oil pan gasket, and hunt down the shimmy that only happens between 20-40 mph.
This isn't leaving me much time to work on my tan.

SLEeper's lower rad hose fixed. $22.
Part on the way for ZiLLA's pesky EGR $25
Watching Lisa's boys change the LeSabre's oil pan gasket tomorrow? Priceless.

The priceless photo would be them forgetting to drain the oil first. I know you wouldn't let them do it, but I know someone who has.

Re: I'm getting a little pissed at the cars
Got the LeSabre done. Tyler did at least half the work, and learned how to use a torque wrench for the first time. No leaks so far, and this was the second design oil pan gasket with taller crush zones and crush-proof inserts. Stuck to factory torque anyway.
Find a TINY amount of slop on the right tie-rod end. Not enough for the shimmy which oddly only rears it's ugly head between 20 and 40 mph. I think I may have found the problem though. Neither front wheel has any balancing weights on it. Might be time for an appointment, or maybe even a quick check with my own bubble balancer.
Did the lower rad hose on the SLEeper Friday afternoon. It was the original hose, with the lower clamp still stapled to the hose. No leaks there so far either.

Good work Tyler! Glad the shimmy problem is solved and no more leaking on the concrete. Bill is teaching you right.

Re: I'm getting a little pissed at the cars
The schooner is pretty happy. I think the only thing left is to gut the airbox. It has a 180 stat, and all the little issues seem to be fixed. We do also have to re-cover the c-pillar trim, but that's a mild cosmetic issue.

That Buick will get mighty quick on the highway with the 180* stat and gutted airbox. Is it getting any other work or modification? I'm plenty happy with my land yacht.

Re: I'm getting a little pissed at the cars
Well, I still haven't gotten back to the LeSabre, been after a pesky set of codes for the EGR on the Zilla. Took it apart and cleaned it to no avail for the first time since I bought the car in '02.
Bought a couple spare valves from a member here, compared the solenoid values between the three, and they're all dead on with each other, but installed a different valve anyway. Finally went out there after work yesterday with my voltmeter. Wouldn't you know, a lack of 12V on the black wire of the connector. Classic. Same fuse also supplies 12V to the boost control solenoid, which works.
The splice is in the factory harness under the alternator. I'm going to have to dig in there and see what's up.
Oh, and the SLEeper is losing brake fluid at a very slow rate from somewhere, and has moisture in the master cylinder.
