ticking/air leak noise..

Post by MadMike »

doesnt sound good,

not 100% sure what it is, sounds like a misfire..
almost..
but i havent checked the wires plugs yet, since its 330 in the morning..

just started doin this tonight, kinda disturbed by it randomly comin up like this,
but hey, *shoot* happens. it sounds like its coming from the #6 area, if im not mistaken,
(as you look at the engine, its the back right)
it almost sounds like a leaky impact wrench hose, best description i can think of..

anyway, ima ride over to the local napa, and grab up a new set of wires and plugs either way,
the cars been sitting for a good year and a half, it most likely needs a tune up and an oil change.

any chance it could be a leak from the header gasket? it only makes the sound when the car is under load.

Sounds like a possible exhaust manifold leak (gasket)...

I have the same issue with mine... started out only under boost and now it's under any load at all. I might take it in so someone can put it on a lift and look for exhaust cracks... But I'd rather just find some cheap headers and a DP then pay for repairs of stock parts.

Keep updating if you figure it out, please.

Good luck with finding cheap headers.

Madmike: Could be the EGR pipe or the EGR gasket.
