the elusive p0171

Post by pmicaza »

hi,

i was getting a maf code so after checking several things, i replace the maf and everything was ok until i got gas at costco, 10% Ethanol and the cel came on again only this time it is p0171 lean on bank one. erased it, came back, figured it might be the Ethanol and waited for a tank or two, egr pipe to the left(front) head was ok, (the egr pipe on the adapted was more than i wanted to get into today), checked vacuum hoses and the only one which seemed "loose" was the one from the canister to the purge, could that be the issue?

my actron scanner reads

idle
map gr/se 6.7 and steadly decreasing into the 4's
maf kpa 33
st ftrm#1 3.3
lt ftrm#1 16.4
st ftrm#11 3.3

up to
2500
maf gr/se 14.3 - 13.38
map kpa 28 - 27
st ftrm#1 0.7
lt ftrm#1 16.4
st ftrm#11 0.7

and returnig to idle
idle
map gr/se 4.5
maf kpa 33 - 32
st ftrm#1 1.5
lt ftrm#1 16.4
st ftrm#11 1.5

reading thru the old posts erlated to p0171, i see this info was requested in the past so there it is. i am not sure what it all means gr/se, kpa, st ftrm#11 (why #11?)

i was thinking of replacing all the rubber connectors on the vacuum lines and wonder if there is a package with all the correct shaped fitting or what else can be gone to replace them.

thanks,
peter

gr/se = Grams per Second
kpa = Kilopascal
st ftrm#11 = Short term fuel trim, bank 1 sensor 1

Make sure your fuel pressure is within spec.
