EGR VALVE
The other day I started getting a p0401 code(Insufficient EGR Flow)plus a p0306 code(Cylinder 6 Six Misfire). So after some reading I took off the ege valve, cleaned it put it back on and still got the same codes. So I decided I would take the one I had off my 95 bonneville and put it on my 98ssei.Have not gotten those codes since. My question is are both EGR Valves the same because they have different part #s stamped on them??The other thing I wanted to ask is I also read alot about people blocking off the egr valve all together.Has anyone in here tried this and if so what were your results....thank you

Re: EGR VALVE
Some will say that removing the egr will boost performance as you are no longer recirculating exhaust gas back into the intake and thus lowering intake temps. But the egr actually reduces combustion temperatures. Either way, its not something you want to just block off, you would need to flash the pcm to do a correct egr delete.

Re: EGR VALVE
The blinking is when its misfiring bad. You shouldn't be driving it in that condition.
AFAIK, the EGR and misfire codes are not related. You have 2 problems.
I'd take care of the misfire before anything. How old are the plugs, wires, coils, ICM?

Re: EGR VALVE
The plugs are new and so are the wires.About a week ago I was getting a p0401 code(Insufficient EGR Flow)plus a p0306 code(Cylinder 6 Six Misfire)So because of the p0401 code I took the egr valve off of my 95 bonneville and put on the 98 and the codes went away till today. Not getting the p0401 but am getting the p0306.This is during car warm-up,before even driving on the road.It seems to drive perfectly fine, plenty of power ect.So I dont know......

Re: EGR VALVE
After I cleaned my EGR, I lubricated it with synthetic supercharger oil. Never had a problem again and its been about 3yrs.
