Plymouth Breeze
We just got a Plymouth Breeze in at work. Don't know much about it, just glanced at it, but it looks like a straight car, and we are only $500 into it, so I should be able to get it pretty cheap, hopefully straight up trade my Lincoln for it.
Here is what I know about these cars...
Produced from 1996-2000, either a 2.0L A588 or a 2.4L EDZ 4 cylinder, and either a 5 speed manual or a 4 speed 41TE automatic.
So how reliable are these cars? What are some common problems with them? Are they hard or expensive to work on?

They should be pretty cheap to work on since everything about them is cheap cheap cheap
My grandma has one and it has been a good little car but if you are anywhere near 6ft stay away!
I am 6'2'' and I hate this car. The way the windshield is angled your head is like dragging on the roof and you can barely see out the window. Just my experience with it though
Good Luck
Also depending on how many miles you Lincoln has and what condition it is in. I would think the Lincoln would be worth more

Just don't ever get into an accident with one. Chuck Norris doesn't hold crap to what that car will do to you in a wreck.

Re: Plymouth Breeze
I, too, am hoping the Lincoln is worth more, but I"m thinking worst case scenario, I trade the Lincoln for like half. I am a touch under 6 feet, but I've driven Neons and stuff OK, so I"m not that worried about it. I'm gonna check it out today and see if it's in ok shape. I mainly need something smaller with better gas mileage, and there is no way in hell I could hate it as much as I hate the Lincoln, so I'm not worried about that lol.

Re: Plymouth Breeze
This is really a sharp car. We just got it on trade, and it hasn't even been through detail yet, but I think it will clean up nice.

Re: Plymouth Breeze
On a somewhat related sidenote: These are usally extremely basic cars. My grandma has one and she has no way to open the trunk other than to turn the car off get out and open it with the key. Their is no such thing as a key fob or a trunk button
Also good luck on trading your land yacht

Re: Plymouth Breeze
Yeah but I figure the 4 cylinder front wheel drive piece of junk is still better than my RWD V8 piece of junk, especially on the winter roads.

Re: Plymouth Breeze
Agreed with the previous. Try to get a GM
maybe another Bonneville?
Older grand prix?
Maybe even a grand am? That would be comparable to the breeze.

Re: Plymouth Breeze
Just remember.... Gm's run bad longer than most cars run at all...LOL..
The plymouth Breeze is ok... Its a smaller car and lighter...
Honestly, if you were going to get one... I would want to see you get a 2005-2006 Dodge Stratus SXT

Re: Plymouth Breeze
It's a "cloud" car....the Cirrus, the Breeze, and the Stratus....all the same. Battery is located in the wheel well, meaning the wheel has to come out in order to change it. Luckily, it has jump ports to make it easier to get or give a boost.
The engines are roughly the same as the Neon twin cam and the Mits Eclipse...transaxles are identical to the Eclipse (The Neon NEVER got a 4 speed automatic for the first gen). Electronics are typical Chrysler of the time...cheap, easy to find in the junkyard, but not terribly robust.
It's a nice bodystyle, and with some work you could put in the Stratus V6, though it's easy enough to adapt a turbo to the 4 cylinder. Be wary of the timing belt and the spark plug tube seals...possibly the head gasket as well.

2005 GXP - White Gold Pearl, no mods...yet.
2000 SSEi - Resurrection in progress. Built L67 w/L32 fuel rail, ported heads, and cam. Camaro front brake system, GXP cluster, and much more in planning.

Re: Plymouth Breeze
The head gaskets on the newer ones were a lot less of a problem... The early Breeze, Stratus and Cirrus had head gasket issues...
The 2.7 V6 used in the later years was junk... If you get a newer one get the 2.4L 4 Cylinder..
Not fond of the Older 2.5 V6 used in those cars.. It was really underpowered...
These are the reasons I say if you are going for something like the Breeze I'd rather see him with a newer Stratus SXT... I have been seeing these with some pretty good miles on them and with few problems..

Re: Plymouth Breeze
I would love to get a GM but I'm working with one particular salesman at my work that is gonna get me an awesome deal on pretty much anything I want, and they just don't run a lot of GM cars through, but I think I'm gonna hold off on getting something, just have a funny feeling about the Breeze.

(sorry don't really have anything fruitful to add to this as I have always tried to avoid chrysler as a general rule of thumb.)

Looked at a Regal today for $2000, may be something to look into.
