So I'm driving down a narrow road the other day with the windows down, driving slow as I pull away from a stop, and I hear this whirring rattly vibrationy sounds. I let off the gas and it stops, I push on the gas and it starts back up. I put the car in park and gave it some gas, no noise, throw it in gear and it's back.
The times it happens most often are under slow acceleration and/or going up an incline. in either case, the tach reads about 2000 rpms. Once I get up to speed it seems to go away; I haven't yet noticed a particular speed/gear when it stops.
Took it to a transmission shop, rode with the tech while he drove it and we were able to duplicate it a number of times. His opinion is that it's not the transmission: shifts were good, fluid clean and "smelled good". To his ear he thought it was coming from the drivers front.
The transmission guy can't get it on the rack until Saturday to look at it, so I'm fishing for ideas on what it might be in the hopes of narrowing down the search area. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!

Re: I have a new noise
Mine makes a similar noise, I think mine is a rattly heat shield.

Can you have someone put it in gear with the brake on while you listen under the hood to see if you can pin-point a location?
