Supercharger question

Post by Sacaledus »

The top hose inside the red circle seems to be pinched shut when the car is @ idle. I give it a little gas and it looks to open up a little. Is it supposed to do that?

I've never seen mine do that, and it doesn't sound right. That's the line that goes down to the transmission vacuum modulator, correct? I'm trying to decide how it would have extra vacuum or if it would reveal an issue with the modulator. I can't think of any problems... though I might check the vacuum modulator for tranny fluid coming out the vacuum port anyway. Take it out and hold it with the vacuum port pointing down and wait a few minutes.

Maybe the vacuum elbow is just getting weak.

So if i'm reading your info correctly Willwren, the particular hose I'm having trouble with, if I remove it my BCA should do what yours is doing in the video? If so...it's not.

That hose doesn't have anything to do with the BCA.

Probably the top one on the BCA.

My goof for moving it. First assumption was SC related. It's not.

Get a replacement fitting or a short section of hose to repair it.

The answer is yes. Any loss of vacuum to anything that uses it will be adverse.

How about we have you start your own topic? This one is about a vacuum issue on someone else's car.

I happened to notice that hose collapse at hot idle on both my '92 and '93. The rigidity of the OEM hose must have degraded due to age and heat.

Although I didn't notice any driveability problems at the time when I noticed the collapsed hose, I replaced it with a section of vacuum hose anyway.
