Just started going thru the repair receipts of my latest purchase, a Y2K SSEi. The previous owner has just installed the FOURTH intermediate steering shaft. There must be another issue creating the failure of the steering shaft and the dealer overlooked it.
Any ideas?

Somebody else has that same problem, too, but I don't remember who.

Take a look at the Common Issues sticky in the 2000+ forum.
This is a very common issue, and I have yet to hear of a 2k+ that hasn't started doing that. Mine did.
Supposedly, GM came out with an updated shaft to fix that, but those started doing the same thing.

I'm in that club...its not very bad though.I get a little click every now and then.
You can lube it to give it a temporary fix. the "new" part number is supposed to be better than the one they had a few years ago.
