Boost?
Hi all
Ive noticed that I seem to not be getting the correct amount of boost feels slugish. I think I might have an exhaust leak some where but Im also thinking of the BCA or the BCS cause I got mine form the junk yard awile back. Im trying to find them on rock auto and AAP and cant seem to find them does any one hace part numbers or do they have different names they might be under?

What does your gauge show for max boost?
If you pull the bottom vacuum line off the BCA, does your boost return to normal levels? If so, you need to see why the PCM is commanding it to dump boost (lots of knock or something) or you need a new BCS. If you can't find it, you can use one for a 96-99 (and maybe 00+ if the part number is the same). The bracket will be different, but you just need to bend it to make it fit, and you're good to go.
Other than that, look at the arm on bottom of the BCA. The foot on it should be resting against the stop on the supercharger base. If not, it's not getting full travel and not closing to prevent the boost from being vented.

I knew something was up with that little foot i knew it was looking right, When the car is off the foot is resting on the stop but when running its up about half way.
Would I be better off looking for anther BCA and BCS at the junk yard or to just buy it new?

The foot should be up at idle, down the engine is off, and should go all the way down if you pull the vacuum line off the top of the BCA when it's idleing. Sorry, I should have been a little clearer on that. Go ahead and grab the foot when the car is off, and push it up through it's range of motion. Feel for any chatching.
Did you take the bottom vacuum line off and see if your boost came back?
I'd buy a new BCS if you need one. They are cheap enough. And I should have said the 96-99 BCS will work above. I'll edit that. I don't know if the 00+ is the same or not. It'd be easy enough to look up the part number I suppose.

Do you mean pull the vacuum line off and test drive it or look at the gauge?
I just want to make sure I have this right.
BCA = Boost control actuator
BCS = Boost control solenoid
and the BCS is the big round thing and the BCA is were the plug is?

The BCA is the big round thing. The BCS is the small box that's plugged in.
Yeah, take the bottom vacuum line off the BCA and test drive it. Watch your boost gauge and see if it acts differently/goes higher than before, particularly under hard throttle.

Ill test drive it on the way home from work I only live about 9 miles from work. But I do have one problem my gauges dont always work still trying to fix that isusse as well. But ill go by feel and how it acts on the way home.

I pulled the top vacuum off the BCA and the foot came down to the stop each time. I aslo check the movement in the BCA and that seem fine as well. Im going to pull the BCS and BCA off later today and check the bypass shaft and test the BCS.

I checked the bypass shaft it seemed good until it hit all the way to the right I put a little oil on it But still feel like im still not getting my boost.

Can you clarify whether the BCA is getting full travel or not? If it is, the boost control and supercharger are not the cause of your sluggishness.

Did you take the vacuum elbow off the bottom of the BCA and see if you feel like it has more boost?

Sorry for the delay the BCA looks to be getting full travel and yes I did take the vacuum off the bottom and still felt the same.
