heated seats
heated seats
my 04 GXP does not have heated seats, appears to be only option it doesnt have, has anyone ever checked into how much it might cost to convert to heated seats, i am assuming cheapest way would be to buy seats off ebay. Probably to expensive to make sense but just wondered? anyone ever heard of a universal kit to make leather seats heated? thanks, robb in virginia

Re: heated seats
It involves tapping into the BCM, RIM, and something else IIRC. Your cheapest option would be to have a shop or dealer install aftermarket kits in. $200 each or so.

Re: heated seats
BCM = Body Control Module
RIM = Rear Integration Module
IIRC = If I Remember Correctly
It's a lot of wiring that no one here knows how to do, basically. An aftermarket heater requires a switched 12V source and a ground. That's something a monkey with a wire strippers can do.

Re: heated seats
With a lot of help from ddalder, who isn't around anymore. When I asked him about it, he said he doesn't know exactly how to do it, and said I should just add the aftermarket units. The same stands with his TNR-800 and Monsoon install. Lots of help from Darcy. Not a bad thing, just how it is...

Re: heated seats
After finishing other issues with my gxp, one last issue is the heated drivers seat, it worked before it went to the dealership (didnt work after the dealership) was brought in for rear heated glass issue and ended up with no heated seat, just the switch lite that comes on and immediately off, was browsing this issue and seems its not a " do it yourselfer" type repair, I hate wiring issues

Re: heated seats
The installation of heated seats where there were none is the tough part. Repair is relatively easy, with the hardest part being finding where the element broke. This is a thread on it.

You can also buy a repair kit from the dealer where new elements are installed under the current ones.
