What size should I get to use on my door? Or does it not matter? They have 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8"

3/8"... the better the adhesion, the better its going to stop leaks. Might be a little harder to make the tight corners, but it will be worth it in the end

Make sure it is not cold when it gets put on. The warmer the better to make the bends

Ok thanks. Do you think it be smart to maybe have a hair dryer on hand and use it when sealing it on the door?

Absoluetely. You could even get manly and buy a heat gun instead of using your girlfriends beauty products.
