any ideas?????

Post by Marshall2469 »

Hi I just bought a 95 Bonneville SSE tonight it has 114,xxx miles on it and ran great for the test drive.... the problem is on the way home (2 hour drive) it started
to act up, the lights dimmed, engine went from around 2400 rpms up to between 4500-5000. It seems to be pretty irregular and happens at most speed ranges now
but it seems to have trouble with sudden acceleration(if i floor it she about dies)

any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated, im goin to get the trouble codes for the engine light in the morning so ill post back when i know more from that.

get your codes. But until then you can start with the basic fire(plugs coil packs wires), gas(filter, pressure, pump ), and air(vacum, intake maf, air filter). Check the volts on the alt.GET YOUR CODES they will tell where to start
It can be done, it will be done, it should be done, it shall be done...tomorrow

Ok so just got done gettin the codes read, the codes are;
PO341 Description is camshaft crack malfunction and
P1361 Description is ignition control toggle malfunction....

The shop I took it to to get them read says more than likely the latter is the cause does this sound right to you guys??

Sounds like it's the cam sensor.

The codes look related to me. My thoughts are the crank sensor or the ICM ground.

Thanks guys it ended up being the ICM, and the high rpms were because the cruise control was shorting and kept trying to engage.

The next thing im trying to fix is my auto locks, when I got the car the switches didnt work (no click or anything) I got a key fob for it and programmed it when i push the lock/unlock buttons on the fob i here a click out of the front doors but the lock sliders dont move.... any ideas where to start with this one?
