mod options
as mentioned in viewtopic.php?f=11&t=17292 the Olds will be getting an L67 swap.
the engine currently has a gen 3 M62 with a 2.55 pulley, ported lower intake, and flow matched injectors. I will use the Fender well intake that was on the buick.
I have been wanting rockers ever since Todd posted that thread asking about interest for the series 1 rockers(probably before that too). So I think that will be a good choice even though it takes a good chunk of my budget.
I have been quite busy and have been kind of out of the loop on the forums here, so I'm asking for ideas on what else i can do before I drop the engine in. anything Ive missed?
working with a $500 budget. minus the 380 for the rockers, that leaves $120. I know not much.

Save that 120 for a high-flow cat. That's the best money spent with the rest of your mods.

With a full $500, you could get a cam from Crow. Or keep your eyes peeled on www.ebay.com.au for a VN Series II 3800 cam for blowers.

Don't forget you'll need a re-programmed EPROM from Sinister, won't you?
Bye Bye:

Re: mod options
Not required. To get the most out of it, maybe. But the rockers work great on the stock programming for the Series 1.

Re: mod options
I have a flowmaster and a high flow cat sitting in my basement that I'd like to have professionally welded. I should have been more specific. I'm looking more for engine mods. I stumbled on this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3800-L67 ... ccessories anyone know of one for a M62? I dont know if id want to spend $60 on a piece of plastic, but it seems like a good idea. same purpose as a wood or phenolic carb spacer.
I have my heart set on the rockers. I would like to get a cam, but wont be able to do both.
The prom I have was flashed by Ryan at Sinister and was running very smoothly, with the engine in it's current state. I hope a tune wont be necessary for rockers, but I will be sure to have the scan tool out to check how rich/lean im at WoT.

Re: mod options
A cam can accomplish the same as rockers and much more. However a cam will need upper end work And a tune to get the most out of it. Rockers cannonly increase the lift ratio/lift. Cam can increase duration and change overlap as well giving different powebands.
Spacer is not necessary, and a waste of over 1/10th of your budget.

Re: mod options
I agree with you in the fact that a cam can acomplish more, but I believe it would cost a bit more in the long run to get running smoothly. I'm still going for the 1.8s. And if/when I do a cam, i will atleast have the rockers in place. but i do thank you for the input.
I was thinking of replacing the lifters while I have everything apart. I am wondering if the lifters in viewtopic.php?f=27&t=17478 will work in a series 1. The part number looked familiar, so I looked it up and for the series one in sealed power it is the same as whats on that box, 2148. I looked up a 2002 and saw the same number....except it took me a minute to realize the was a "b" after the 2148. these are rollers. are they interchangable?

Series I and II use the same lifters.

Re: mod options
The "B" at the end of the part number just indicates bulk as opposed to retail boxed, same part just different packaging.
