Need help with a couple repairs while visiting Florida.

Post by Maymybonneliveforevr »

Would any member be able to help me with a couple repairs while I'm visiting New Smyrna Beach Florida next week for a couple days? Below are the list of repair I would like help with.

-A/C clutch is in need of adjustment or replacement. A/C is cold but when the clutch engages it tends to spark on occasion.
-Locate a front end noise when turning left, alignment was done and they found no front end problems.
-Possibly install drag bags.
-Change Supercharger oil

Thank you.

I think he means the air bags are shot... May be installing the helper springs( bags ) or replacing the air struts

The rear struts are new I just wanted to raise the back end about 1.5" and have seen these installed by fellow Bonneville members. I don't believe the air bags are shot Don since they don't seem to leak air. Am I going about this the wrong way? Rear end height is around 27.75".

EDIT:
Don, thanks for the reply, anytime between these dates, March 13th to 27th.

Yeah, just adjust the height sensor, and the car will automatically pump the rear struts up a bit more to another height. The rear air struts have a VERY long extension compared to regular ones, you can go pretty high.

Well then that would seem to be an easy repair/adjustment. I would still like to repair the other items on the list while in Florida if at all possible.

Very delicate adjustments, and you need to understand the system timers. It's best to lay under the car (no stands or ramps) and make small tweaks while 'feeling' the car move up and down with your thighs while your knees are bent.

Careful measurements from the center of the hub or edge of the rim to the fender lip, and make sure the car is on level ground from the beginning.

Thanks for the info Will, just curious as to what the stock height would be for a 97 EI or should I base it on the front ride height? I always like the stance of a car to have the rear ride height to be approximately 1/2" higher then the front from level ground to inner fender well. But then level front rear would be fine. I believe I need to raise mine 5/8" to be level with front.

I wasn't referring to purchasing the car Don I was referring to this thread, sorry for the missunderstanding and attitude, that wasn't my intent. I seem to be having problems organizing it.

As for the car, I've purchased it but since I've given no deposit I can walk away so I'm covered, no worries there. The car is actually for Michael, you met him at NEBF.
