That REALLY defeats the whole purpose of doing a compression test. For future referance, if your not going to do all of them, then don't even bother doing one (unless diagnosing a none functional cylinder). Good luck, it will probably be fine, but.....

Do the back three. You'll regret it if you don't and find a bent rod later after all your work on the rear bank.

Suck it up and get in there.

Back 3 cylinders have as good of a chance of hydrolocking as the fronts....

Oh well it's already done. New filter and oil AGAIN. Everything is put together and it turns over again but seems like it is only firing on 2-3 cylinders at most. So now I'm wondering if it just needs new spark plugs or what?

Edit: also it seems if the throttle body is held wide open it will fire more often but it still seems to be on like only 2 cylinders.

Coolant can ruin spark plugs. Change them & see if it fires up.

NGK copper core V-power are good. Old NGK number is TR-55; new NGK number is 3951 iirc. Do NOT install Bosch platinum.

Funny I was just looking at the V-Power they were the second cheapest plug at the auto $2.50 a piece and they seem decent

Can I check the plugs I have or anything because they looked ok and we dried them real good and everything but money is kinda tight right now and If I dont NEED new plugs I dont wanna waste the money as the ones that were in there were prolly like 75% I would say.

Buy the cheapest non-Bosch copper-core plugs you can. Some Wal-Marts still have Autolite 605's for $3 for a two-pack. Think of it as cheap troubleshooting.

I said that some time ago in this thread. Perhaps if you read all the responses instead of skimming through them, and heeding our advice instead of "winging it" like you did by skipping the back three cylinders, it might be running by now.

I'm sorry but I really have like NO money right now so I'm just kinda going as I go and I really don't wanna spend money on stuff I dot need.

Also I was told by a friend at the dealer. Now this has been a family friend since for 30 years and he has been working at the dealer almost that long.
He told us that coolant doesn't hurt the plugs as long as the plugs are dried off good enough and usually coolant won't hurt the o2's but oil will pretty much take them out.

Thanks so much for all the help I'll go get some spark plugs today and go from there.

But, if you do not do it right the first time, you WILL be back doing the same thing again....................or looking for a motor.

Spark plugs are oily gassy how can I get the cylinders totally cleaned?
We already cranked it over a bunch times and everything like that to push all the crap out.

I've never heard anything else besides burning it off. Maybe a Seafoam soak to get the motor oil off of the cylinder walls.

I'd google this, but if it were me, I'd yank the front O2 sensor from the manifold, put the plugs and wires back in, cross my fingers, and fire it up. Let it idle for a bit to circulate oil and clean out the cylinders, put the O2 sensor back in, then take it for a gentle spin around the block.

Research it before you do anything.

Try running it at higher RPM, like 2000, for a minute and see if it clears out.
