HELP!!!

Post by Melissa »

After all the other issues with my car, the cd player the heat inside and the exterior temp sensor... it crapped out on me today totally! Lights flicker when I turn it over but no noise like its trying to start. Battery?! I want to cry but all I can do is kinda laugh bc too much has gone wrong with this car since I've had it for the past 4 months. Getting mad won't fix it.

That is what mine did. Do you have the original AC Delco battery? I just replaced the one in my 2k last summer.

there's absolutely no corrosion on the battery it has to b just the battery itself. im hoping thats it bc it won't b expensive & its an ez fix. I think it is an AC delco one tho i remember seeing the side of it when i checked the connection

It is the vented type. Mine was $175 from Napa. Make sure you get a vented one.

WHOA! Totally can't be spending over $100 on a battery. That's a definite no can do! lol Spent too much on it as it is and I'll be having to borrow from my dad to get one on top of that.

Interstate lists $170 or so for a stock replacement. They are not cheap, and there isn't much you can do about it.

That battery is expensive. I priced the crap out of one for a friend and the cheapest I could find was 170. Someone else here had issues just a few days ago with exterior temp and other things acting up. You may want to search and watch that post?

Because of this when googled:
All batteries contain sulfuric acid and can generate explosive gases

If your son-in-laws Aurora has the battery under the back seat and he used a regular battery that's not ventilated, it could potentially blow up.

Yep. Also, if the battery is venting acid and you don't have the vent tube hooked up properly or don't have the proper battery, the acid will leak onto the floor of the car and it WILL eat a hole through your floor. I have repaired a couple of floors in Buicks because of this scenario. One had a small hole the size of a quarter, the other had a hole the size of a softball.

The 02 SSEi I parted out had a leaking battery and there was battery acid residue everywhere under the seat. There was a hole rusted about the side of a softball under the battery. The owner had put a piece of cardboard under the battery to cover the hole. :angry7:

We just put a battery in Shannon's 2000 SSEi. Got it from O'Reilly's for $96. It is a little smaller than the OEM battery, but it has a higher CCA. I had to modify the vent tube a little, but it does have the vents.

Went with my dad today and got one for $70. Took care of the Cd player issue too!! Starts up a million times better than it has since I got it. The battery that came out was Sparton brand. Never heard if it. So she's up and running again but the exterior temp is still off by over 100 degrees!!
