I ended up getting a '93 Eclipse 2.0 n/a 5-speed. Mechanically great, physically a little beat up, but nothing that some time and hard work can't bring back to life. Got it + $300 cash for my car, which I think was fair. Around here high-mileage bonne's rarely fetch more than $1500, and the frame on my car was REALLY getting rotten in spots. The frame on the eclipse is VERY CLEAN, hardly any rust underneath. It hasn't leaked anything yet either.
I know i'm probably going to have to put a tranny in the eclipse though, the 1st/reverse syncro isn't any good. But if you know how to drive it it's just fine. 2nd is a little shoddy too, but again if you know how to drive a manual (which i do) it's not too hard. Rev-matching and double clutching is important. But it's got nice 17" akita rims with almost new falken tires, 215/45's. The interior is in pretty good shape, needs a headliner and a good scrub, couple clips here and there.
Best part is it's only got 146k on it! I dropped 60k miles just like that. Compared to my boat with bad struts this thing is like a go-cart! I forget how fun it is to drive these little cars, my past like 4 cars have been aurora, caddy, caddy, and bonne. All cruisers, not handlers.
All in all i'm satisfied. I was getting bored with the bonne, it's a nice car to drive just not the most FUN car to drive. Parts for the eclipse are just as reasonable, and it's almost as easy to work on. I may have been able to find a better deal, but hey that's how it goes
