exhaust tips?

Is there any way I can replace the exhaust tips on my 2000 Bonneville SSEi without replacing the whole exhaust system? Are they welded on the exhaust pipes? I'm fine with the OEM one, but the tips are really worn out and oxidized beyond belief.

Yes. Many of us 2000+ owners have custom tips. It requires a little bit of custom work to make them fit since the stock exhaust comes out at an angle.

Don't mind the missing center taillight, I am working on re-clearing another one.

Local exhaust shop charged me $45 to put them on, I thought that was a great price. He had to heat up the stock piping near the Y-pipe to bend things around a little bit in order to make the tips align correctly. He has skills!

you could also clean them up with a grinding tool like a dremel, or by hand with sand paper. its work but do come out looking better.

of course they wont stay like that for ever

Exhaust shop? Would an auto parts store do the same for around the same price?

BTW, what did you use to clear your tailights? A battery-operated dremel? power drill? I'm having trouble cutting through the plastic.

Auto parts stores don't generally do any actual work.. Your best bet is an exhaust shop. Most people used an electric dremel, I used a regular power drill with daimond cutting blades.

Will the exhaust shops be able to weld aftermarket exhaust tips that have screws on the end?

battery-operated or corded power drill? Or does it matter? what exactly do you mean by diamond cutting blades? Is the drill bit a certain shape?

Corded, I don't really like battery powered drills but that's just prefference. The faster it spins, the better.

Oh ok I have some of those blades, but they broke easily. Maybe I was pressing too hard. Thanks for the info. I'll give it a try.

Please, don't install those tips. They're cheap, and they won't last very long. Get the e-bay ones that quite a few people have, they look nice and are about $65 for a set.
