FWIW: Lowe's has steel spacers in the hardware section that match exactly to the ones JB used. Cost is quite reasonable at $5 for all 4 spacers.

Update: Finally got up off my duff and did the DIY shift kit along with a transmission flush to Dex-VI. The shifts aren't harsh or shuddery. The transmission just goes into gear. I can tell when it goes into gear, and there's no fussing in between gears.

The flush was pretty easy too after I drained the pan. I re-filled the pan with Dex-VI, unhooked a cooler line hose going to my auxiliary transmission cooler, and stuck the end of it into an empty gallon milk jug placed where I could see it. Then I cranked the car and shut it off when the milk jug was near full. I re-filled the pan with 4 quarts, or as many as were in the milk jug, and repeated until I had filled 2 milk jugs, or 8 quarts. That should have flushed the torque converter and removed ~92% of the old ATF out of the transmission. That 92% includes the old ATF in the torque converter, and the ATF I pumped out of the pan before dropping the pan.
