i hit a deer. Help

Post by jdronzek »

hey guys,

I hit a deer yesterday. I was going 35mph.. it jumped out very last minute (i didnt even know I hit the thing until i heard it smash into me. I get out, see that my entire side of my car is busted up, because of a stupid ass deer. :bs:

Well, the damage:

Passenger fender. Completely bent up.
Header Panel, salvagable. Somewhat cracked up.
Headlight is held on (works) It tilts from side to side.
When my car bounces, something rubs on the passenger side tire.
Shroud is somewhat broke.
Hood corner is a tiny tiny bit bumped up.
Engine seems stable. Nothing internally broke. (the hood is popped in this picture)
Bumped is toast as you can see.

What I need to know is what do you guys think is a good price for these parts. (Anywhere online cheap maybe?) Any tricks/tips to taking off and putting these parts on. Do they make aftermarket parts? (headlights? Z3 fenders or something? )Should i take the pinstrips off too? I kind of have to since the new fender wont have them on there.

I might have a local shop do this for me, and I might just get the whole car repainted as well. Any color preferences you guys have?

Thanks guys,

Josh

Best bet for cheap parts is the junkyard, you might be able to get them new but it will be insanely expensive. I'd try to find them in the same color because painting is expensive, I would not advise get the whole car repainted because a good paint job will cost as much as your car is worth and wont raise the value at all.

With above. Get replacement panels same color, bolt them on, remove your pinstripes and you are set. Not worth a paintjob unless entire car paint is shot.

A roll of pinstripe is cheap. I'd see what your insurance will cover, and go from there.
Bye Bye:

Oh yeah. I forgot. Insurance says Nope, we dont cover deer accidents. And I can get my car painted for free, all i pay for is the paint. He is professional. One of my friends buddies. What would you guys say is a good price for these parts though. I need some estimates.

I hit a deer with the 94 a few years ago. Not as much damage as yours...

But I got the parts through a small body shop... Fender, lights, wheel-well shroud....
They did not seem to care that I was doing the work myself instead of giving it to them.

They probably were not the cheapest, but did not seem to be exorbitant... especially when compared to stock GM....

I think i found a bumper and fender for 175. Trying to get him to include the header panel for up to 200 total price.
