Need to sell it, but how (much)?

Post by putertopia »

As some of you may know, the tranny went in the 97 again (this makes the fourth time I believe) since 82k. At 120,250 at this point, FIFTY miles out of warranty, it sits in the driveway because the transmission is really starting to slip when you give it throttle, and the fluid pump is making a horrible noise. You notice less and less pressure, even with the shift modulator cranked up a bit. Two second 3-4 gear shifts ftw

Anyhow, I need to rid of this thing somehow, it keeps costing me money that I need to be putting towards school. I have three options: Sell it as fixable car for around, fix it and sell it for more, or part it. There's nothing amazing done to this car, check out my signature. It's stock everything minus PLIM. If I sold it whole, I would be removing FWI, Head unit (gift from fiance), subwoofers + accompanying amp, and would probably just leave the infinitys and blaupunkts in with their amp to the next owner.

What do you think I could get for the car as is, and if fixed? I was thinking 2200 if fixed, there's gotta be someone around out here that would like a decent looking car. If you do the poll, please add feedback as far as pricing.

I say sell it as is, and be sure to explain the tranny issues. It's in such great looking shape that I'm sure someone would snatch it up. I couldn't really say what it'd be worth. I think around $2k is good...?

50 miles out of warranty?! The shop not going to do anything for you? When I had mine done I was told I had a 1-year/20,000km (12k miles) warranty, but "if it goes at like 21,000 we're not going to tell you to go *fook* yourself" was the exact words of the shop.

Depends if you have the time to do another swap. I'd toss in a used trans and sell it asap. If not, just sell it as is... could probably get $1200-1500 as is.
