Fuel lock not working...and now some other things!

Post by bonne03ssei »

So I put a new fuel door on since mine didn't come with a locking tab. Come to find out my lock isn't actually working so the fuel door is useless for now.

I located the relay and figured I'd see if it was ok, it looked ok but I don't have any clue how or have the ability to test it.

This morning I notice my trunk won't unlock with the key fob, my Aeroforce won't go on when I start the car, and my homelink isn't working. Not sure if anything else is not working. I can't find anywhere where there are fuses for these things that may have blown but it's pretty annoying as these are all things I use everyday.

Can someone tell me what controls these features so I can know if it's as simple as some fuses? And it looks like I need a new relay for the fuel door lock (#47 under back seat)...am I doomed to go to the dealer for this?

Thanks!

Most times, the gas door lock problem is the lock itself, instead of the relays. The body fuse in the rear block controls both the fuel door, and trunk locks. The Ign Sw fuse controls the garage door opener. There should be both a lock and unlock relay for the fuel door.

That's a lot of electrical problems. Be sure your battery is completely charged and your cable connections are clean.

Note if you pull the injectors to obserbe fuel delivery...make sure you leave the plugs in and disconnect the ign. Believe me

It's definitely not my battery. In trying to remove the relay for the fuel door lock I probably blew some fuses or relays somehow when I inadvertently touched some metal and saw a couple tiny sparks. That's my guess.

Try some penetrating lubricant on the lock itself, and maybe remove it and get the pin out (in lock position), then spray some more in there. Also check and clean the connector.

So I go to get my car tested for emissions, and realize it won't test since the OBD plug was not working. I spend 2 minutes and find an ALDL fuse. Why I didn't see this before, I don't know.

I replaced the ALDL fuse, car passes emissions.

The ALDL fuse also fixed the homelink and the trunk lock. Go figure!!

Great! :angry4:

Now can you find the fuse that's keeping my radio from working?
