Intense pcm reflashing's

Post by J. Baker »

I recently had miy Pcm re-done (standard pak) and then i had my crank sen. re-learned and everything work's great motor wise but after my tranny get to temp it starts to slightly slam shift... now it didn't do this before (the pcm got done) and since i've changed the filter and still no change ( any sugg?)..... I no it's not my tranny it's in the com. or a sen. ... i just want to no if there's anything else that need's to be re-learned or should i just deal w/ it???????

It's supposed to firm your shifts some, But have them check it out because somehow my PCM got the wrong gear ratio. Mine started whining and just acting funny sometimes like it didin't know when to shift. (I thought my tranny was going and almost got it rebuilt) But when I got it scanned at Autozone and also at the trans place it came up "Incorrect Gear Ratio" ofcoarse the tranny place said cause it's slipping.
Anyway..
I didn't get it fixed till almost a year later and works great now. I think that someone changed the PCM(before I bought the car) and put one in from a car with a diff gear ratio but, It wasn't noticeable untill the PCM tune.

My car(99 SE) firms up the shifts when the trans gets on the warm side. So much so that I'd almost swore the first time I experienced it that the EPC went bad. No such luck, was just tuned to behave that way. I'd never got it warmed up enough to experience it previously was all. Though I would say it was a bit harsh with the engine mounts being soft, I haven't had it warm enough to repeat.

One way to look at it is this. Less slip between shifts, less heat. I don't know how much difference it actually makes though. Perhaps someone else has that information.

The car came from the previous owner with an Intense PCM that I haven't molested yet.

Mine slams when I re-start and go quickly. Otherwise it just shifts normally under light throttle. WOT is enough to get some jerky shifts, and my car hates being warm. Shifts go to heck when the transmission is above 170* F. But it shifts really nicely at ~165* F.
