Gold Class = High Shine, Low Durability (Used to have it last about a month or so on the bonneville(s))
NXT 2.0 = Good Shine, High Durability (Applied it on the truck March 2008, with proper washing, it STILL beads perfectly, and still has a dead gorgeous shine, also, truck sits in the florida sun 24/7, 365.)

Don, fantastic job on the SLE. Looks great. :hail: Can't wait to see it in person!

That's what I've gathered too. With the way my car is, it's back to Gold Class for good. I can deal with rewaxing that often, I usually do anyway.

alright gents, some advice here, please.

since my car color is not dark, will NXT still work (asking because I still have an unopen bottle in the garage) or just go with GC?
here's the plan for today (or tomorrow):

a. wash car down with Dawn dish detergent
b. clay bar (mind you it'll be the first time for me using one of these instruments, I hear it'll make a night and day difference).
c. two coats of Liquid Glass polish
d. one coat of the NXT (or Gold Class)

oh, and I almost forgot, can/should the car be washed/dried in direct sunlight. I know for the clay bar and wax I'll have to move her into the garage.

any input you guys/gals can give would be greatly appreciated. :)

Do not use Dawn Dish detergent... Its really hard on the paint..

The Clay bar will strip everything off the car.. NXT or Gold class will work.. But I feel the shine from the Gold class is better... Does not last as long but looks really good..

NXT and LG are basically the same. Don't use both. If you use LG, follow the directions exactly. Don't wash or wax in direct light, period.

my issue with NXT is that it leaves streaks in the paint, no matter what I do, the first time I did it in the sun so I thought that was the issue. the second time I brought the car in to cool off for hours then did it all, and I still had the streaking.. I have never had this with other wax's..

I noticed that as well Peter... Another reason I'd rather use the Gold Class

Dawn is fine, it's just a degreaser pretty much, which is why it strips wax so well. Infact using a clay bar to strip wax will gum it up some and cause it to not be effective on the small particulates it was designed for.

I love Megs #20 and #21. New polymer sealants are great, i wont use Gold Class anymore, it's not as good in anything but shine. Best wax I have used to date though has been P21s/S100. Find it at a Harley dealer, or online. AMAZING stuff, it's like BUTTA.

Its still growing on me Tom.. I have noticed that this sucker is pretty stiff riding even for an FE2... I don't remember my Aunts 04 SLE riding anywhere near as stiff and it also is an FE2... But I like a Big car that can handle and feel likes its on the ground...lol

I love the seats.... And its all your fault anyhow.... After I saw the inside of your 04 it was over.. And I found one in that color, on the inside anyhow....lol

I will say that the seats are the ONLY thing i like better about my 96. Otherwise the 2000 wins hands down on styling and creature comfort. Don that car looks good...I need to come see it in person.

Don:
You might want to top the NXT with Gold Class. I believe the Gold Class is a pure wax and does not have any cleaning agents in the wax.

Topping a sealant with a wax is becoming very popular on all of the detailing forums. That is what we did with Cody's SAAB and Greg’s Bonny this past weekend.

You get the benefits of the sealant's durability and the wax's depth of color.
