Which wires do I get?
Ok, here's an issue I'm having.
Now 95 up Bonneville was Series II N/A, ok. Obviously different from Series I. (duh, why am I stating the obvious?)
I go on Summit's site, find the coils I want, and now I am looking at wires. Taylor makes a nice 8.2mm set. Here's the issue, the one model wire lists 93-95 SE, the other lists 96-98 SE. Yet, how do you say 93-95 is the same? They changed motors, and it's def. SE, not S/C model.
This is "96-98"

Re: Which wires do I get?
I was kinda wondering which ones out of those two...
I am going overboard a bit because I am doing MSD coils and I already invested in AutoLite Iridium XP plugs, no sense in cheaping out otherwise when I need a new wire set and the current coils have 165k. Now, which one of those two can someone tell me do I get?

Re: Which wires do I get?
mike, here are two things to consider....
taylor wires suck....go with the belden wires for the 92 sse, they are 8mm and a little shorter....
2nd, iridium plugs DO NOT do good on the waste spark like system our 3800 use, please buy regular plugs, your MPG will like you, as well as belden wires premiun that is
and what was wrong with your coils?

Get Beldum Premiuns... or msd. I had both, and they both worked fine.. I actually have my beldums laying around somewhere had them on the car for maybe a day.

Re: Which wires do I get?
Don't the iridiums do alright in NA 3800's? Taylors have been hit or miss. If the several sets of wire's I've bought, I got the most life out of Beldins. Including a couple sets of MSD's and some ACDelco's. The Delco's have such tight terminals, pulling them off the plugs frequently ruins them.

Re: Which wires do I get?
jovan was here for a LIM gasket change and we checked his plug....the tips, electrode side were white and a little crusty, he had the tr55 iridium's..... regular tr55's put in and his mpg on the way home went for 18 to 23

Iridium's do great.
I saw MSD, but they were universal it seemed? No set for 3800 really?

Re: Which wires do I get?
If you want MSD, you can use the one for the V6 GTP (pn) 121-32789. I know it for a SC 3800, but it will fit your NA 3800. That's the set I got for my car and fit with no problems.
(pn) 121-32789 is a JEGS part number.

Napa Beldin's. Most of the Top 25 3800's use them, and they have a lifetime warranty. You honestly don't need MSD coils. It's a waste of money.

Can someone at least answer my original question of which of those two Taylor wires are for my car? LOL...so much discussion, no direct answer. Sorry to be straight to the point, but none of this answered my original question.

Re: Which wires do I get?
I'd venture to say they are nearly (if not) identical. But one set may be a little shorter than the other. I'd go with the 96-98 set (probably the longer if that's the difference), if those were my only choices for an L36.

Everyone is just trying to help you save a lil bit of money and get a better wire. Thats why they are saying Beldins.ChilinMichael wrote:Can someone at least answer my original question of which of those two Taylor wires are for my car? LOL...so much discussion, no direct answer. Re: Which wires do I get?
Taylor wires don't holdup,
just ask willwren. He gave up on them after the second are third set. MSD or Beldins is your best bet for good wires that will last.

Anyone have a link for the proper Beldin's for my car?
I am looking at the MSD's suggested also now, which look very promising.

I can walk into the NAPA I work next to in a town of 1300 and they have them. Any NAPA in the country should have them, or have them the next business day, at the very latest.

Re: Which wires do I get?
Just get the Beldin Premiums and be done with it! They have been the best I have ever had. You won't regret it. I have tried ac delco, autolite and a few that I am embarrassed to admit to and the Beldins have performed the best in consisteny and power. You will be very happy with them!

Re: Which wires do I get?
I have had beldins break after the first use. Taylor wires are better than beldins I think. Get the newer version for the 98 because they have probably adjusted lengths. Lots of people use taylors for the GP and Regal. ZZP and PRJ wires are both taylors, and they are used by many people. A few failures are possible with so many being bought, but I would buy taylors over beldins. It is thought that taylors break inside the wire protectant, but they cannot sell as much as they do with that failure rate. When my breaking MSD wires wear out, I am going to buy a taylor set from ZZP or PRJ.

Are you kidding? Multiple Members have had multiple sets of Taylor's go bad. Ask Willwren, J Wikoff and some others.
