i would think the block itself is fine, but almost everything short of that will need upgrading

Re: supercharger
Ive never heard of any issues. But who says he needs 900+ hp out of a twin supercharger set up. Maybe he only wants 500hp which is ok with the stock shortblock.

Re: supercharger
For the money spent you could buy a S2 L67 and put a turbo kit on it and make more power with fewer problems.

Re: supercharger
im rebuilding the block very soon. im just getting into contact with people about strengthening the tranny and diff.
i want to run 400-500 hp with the two sc's and then all that with a 50-100 hp shot of nos. (the nos wont happen anytime soon these are more long term plans..) im sure the "block" will be fine. im wondering about the heads though.

Re: supercharger
Maybe you dont fully understand how an engine works but If you run a huge shot of NO2 and dont retard the timing your cyl pressure is going to peak BEFORE you reach TDC and WILL try to force everything backwards either the crank will give or the rods. Its not a misfire or knock that chips pistons.Dirthead Racing wrote:at the "NOS" "rod through the block" comment. For the record, the rods don't usually come through the block on 3800's. You'll chip a piston, and lose compression. If the chip is big enough you'll bend a valve. "rod through the block" keep reading on the internet and repeating as gospel
I don't know where certain mods get a bad rap

I didnt learn that on the internet I learned that from an actual engine builder who has built several 1000+ HP cars. Maybe YOU need to go to school and learn how stuff works.
There is nothing wrong with Nitrous as long as you tune for it properly. I know a guy who is running a 290 shot on a 5.4 truck motor that he swapped into his mustang he has no issues.

Re: supercharger
Sorry, I guess running it on my car and maxing out the shot on my system doesn't qualify me to know what I'm talking about. I guess tearing my engine down to see what happened and learning from it and the multiple other blown engines doesn't qualify me to know what I'm talking about. Simply put, you're not correct........and I have more than a 1.5yr Wyotech degree.............nice try though. Do you even know what the advance on a 3800 car is? Figure that out then compare that to your "first hand experience listening to someone else who has put an engine before" experience and tell me that you need to worry about the rods. Better yet, find me an example of a 3800 rod failing, let alone going through the block. I'll be waitingdirtracr95 wrote:Maybe you dont fully understand how an engine works but If you run a huge shot of NO2 and dont retard the timing your cyl pressure is going to peak BEFORE you reach TDC and WILL try to force everything backwards either the crank will give or the rods. Re: supercharger
Was he running stock pistons?
I'm sure there are no known piston failures from predetonation without nitrous, not that the predetonation is the cylider firing prior to TDC or anything

im thinking of getting functional hood vents and putting the twin air intake right after either vent. i need a custom hood n e ways. look something like the g8s vents but with air intake filter behind a black mesh or something...
