I know this has been covered before but I can't find it. I am going to try to install a shift kit in
my 2000 SSEi. There was step by step post but I can't find it. Could someone help me out?

What brand shift kit? It should have instructions.

Re: shift kit
Yeah your kit should say how to.
....and BTW, what other mods do you have? noticed you have a 3.4 pulley.

3.4 pulley
Re: shift kit
The only mod I have is the pulley. The reason for the shift kit is to get rid of
the shift problem I have. It worked for one of the other Bonneville owners. Is there a brand of shift kit I should look
or will any of them be ok?

Re: shift kit
slightly off topic if the pulley is all you got you're going to want to open your exhaust up and soon!
a lot of people run the intense-racing shift kit. but others run the zzp kit because it is cheaper, however it is less complete then the intense kit

Re: shift kit
Your shift problem is likely something wrong with your trans. A shift kit makes it seem like the problem is fixed cause it does firm up the shift.
What kind of shifting problems are you having?
You really shouldnt run a smaller pulley, specially as small as a 3.4 unless you have scanned for KR and opened up your exhaust flow(i.e. hi-flow cat, downpipe, ported manifolds or maybe headers, although they are expensive)

Re: shift kit
I thought the FWI would be enough to help breathing and that our stock exhaust was sufficeint until you got really crazy like a 3.2 and/or new high performance valve train.
Back on subject: Are you getting the occassional hard shifts? Like really hard? I had that after the 3.4 (and before the FWI) and whenever it got really hot out (or the drivetrain got hot from hard driving)
I understand that its the tranny's Pressure Control Selanoid misreading how much pressure is required in hot conditions and it can be replaced but in my case I happened to install a 180 t-stat keeping everything a little cooler and the hard shift has hardly ever re-occured.
If it does, simply pull over and turn off the car for 20-30 seconds. If it keeps coming back then research the PCS first before spending money on a shift kit.
