Park Avenue Questions

Post by 97seagain »

As I mentioned in the other thread about selling my 97 Bonne for an 01 PA, I discovered a few things in the interior that need some attention.

First thing is that the drivers door makes a nasty noise while swinging it open and closed. It seems to have something to do with the thing circled in blue below. What exactly is this, and how can I service or replace it?
Image

Next thing is the driver's seatbelt buckle... I've never seen this... and have NO idea how this happened. Is this dealer only, or can I try junkyards? PA only, or will other GM products have the same buckle?
Image

The next item is the power lock switch... something I've noticed on a few of the ebay PA's... do I need a new switch?
Image

Can I replace this speaker cover itself (dented like crazy and rusty)... or is it a part of the whole door panel?
Image

Finally, how hard is it to pull the front seats out of this? The carpet would be much easier to clean out of the car.

Thanks in advance!

Try some spray silicon lubricant on the door hinge.

The buckle, you'll need to find one at the junk yard, cuz a dealer is going to be pretty high priced.

Lock switch, pull it apart and see what actually broke. Hard to know without seeing.

The speaker grill can be replaced if you can find another.

The front seats come out with a few bolts. The power function must be working in order to get both the front and rear bolts out.

Thanks for the ultra quick response!

I tried some lube on the hinges and on this thing circled in blue, no change at all. Do I have to pull the whole door panel off to access this piece in question?

I figured the seatbelt buckle is gonna be a boneyard item only.

As for the power lock switch, do you know if I have to pull the entire door panel to access it, or does the section that its in pull separately?

Finally, I glanced at the front seats, and noticed a number of wiring connectors under them. They both power back and forth fine, so no issue there... but with the trim and wiring, is it worth the trouble to pull them just to clean the carpet?

Thanks again,
Bob

That speaker grille and bottom door screw are both rusty. Where are you located? No chance of it being a flood car right?

It looks like you will probably have to remove the entire door panel to remove the speaker grille and access that switch. While you are in there, hit up the inside portion (if you can) of the door hinge thingy. Other than that, just keep spraying the outer hinges. It sometimes takes quite a bit to get it to work in. Spray it and swing the door a few times to get it in there nice and deep.
