What can be done in a week's time?

Talk about modifications, or anything else associated with performance enhancements. Have a new idea for performance/reliability? Post it here. No idea is stupid! (please use Detailing and Appearance for cosmetic ideas)

What can be done in a week's time?

Post by fastblackbeauty »

Okay, I have tried to be patient because I know you all have been busy with the move, but I gotsta post it. Bill, just remember, you told me to get one going

What can be done while down at the WCBF'08 to my '94 SSEi to help improve both longevity and ponies? The whole point to this is to come in under the radar cost wise and still be able to take it to track days to test her out. I need to know so I know what parts I need to buy/find and possibly have prepped to come down with me.

I am really looking forward to seeing what I can do with this thing, as in the spring I am hoping to buy either a '00-'03 SSEi or a '98 or newer GTP coupe. So the Black Beauty will then become the fun toy. But I want her to last too, let's face it guys and gals, I am sooooo very very attached to the Black Beauty. :bouncingsmiles: No purchase could have been better for me. It is a comfortable ride with plenty of giddeyupandgo, but she could use a few more ponies in the wagon pulling area. Remeber, I am used to my SHO's which could be modded pretty easily (engine rated to 703HP before any internal, ie. rings, etc. were needed to be upgraded) but bone stock, the SHO's were a quick little mutha! lol

Any ideas would be great...thanks. :hail:

So I ask him, what would the right price be? He tells me about six grand. I shouted back Are you serious??? Nobody would pay that!!! With an old man evil grin, he smiles and says, I know.

For the most part, WCBF typically isn't the time to be considering major work. That's what the mini-meets are for.

We have a limited amount of time and space available during the meet for work, so we try to reserve that for 'necessities'.

That being said, there are exceptions, but we really need to know what you have in mind a little more specifically first.

well then, I guess I will have to see what comes up during the WCBF, get my ideas there, then plan to play around with a mini meet, maybe convince Taylor to come down too....that is if the little woman lets him come out and play! lol...

there is just too much to sort through in the performance, but now that we have moved....maybe it will be a little cleaner.

Performance comes after maintenance as always, and there's always the lurking fear of an aging transmission when adding power. Just keep that in mind. On your car it would be wise to start a transmission 'fund' if you're going to start modding (or even without mods, if you intend to keep the car for 3 or 4 more years at least).

funny thing about that, Bill...I was kinda thinking the same thing with my tanny. Although it does shift and run just fine, it does have 160K on the ticker. And I know it hasn't been replaced since at least 50K (when the previous owner bought it), so I have reason to believe it is the orginal. My uncle owns a tranny shop here in Spokane, though, and I was thinking about getting one out of the wrecking yard and seeing how I can have some fun building that one up. That way, when mine does go, chaching! in goes the "builit" one. As far as maintenence is concerned, car seems to be pretty solid. I am VERY happy with it! I decided to wait on major mods until I can at least get the SHO running, so that way I have a second car. With that done, I wouldn't need to be in a rush to mod out the Bonnie.

I will keep peruzing through the perfomance and mods section and kinda looking a little closer at what ppl have done with thier Bonnies during the convention for ideas to write down and stick away. :)

I've been through trannies under both my L67's now. When it comes time, it's rather inexpensive to add a few little performance items, and one of them will extend the life of the 'new' trans, so consider that a slushbucket of funds for more performance, whenever it says "Do me!"
