MrsCrzys Bonne has a CV joint clunking. It only makes noise during turns, but its been doing it for awhile.
How long would you trust it and how do these usually fail? I have a mylegram scheduled first thing Monday AM 100 miles away, and we planned to use this car to go in, since I can recline fully on the return trip. Yea its still all about the comfort.
Trip is mainly highway, 65 mph, no sharp curves and a few turns once we hit metro area. Is it likely to fly apart on us? We have another, much newer, but less comfy car to use if need be, but I'd rather ride in the Bonne.
Clicking CV joint, can I trust it for awhile?

If you have the option, drive the other car, duh! It would probably make it, or it might come off at 65 mph and do all sorts of fun things including leaving you stranded.

Thanks JDB. "come off at 65" was all I needed to hear. I don't know how catastrophic the failure can get, since we have had only one other go to a clunking sound, and we got it changed shortly after, more for the noise than anything else.

You said clunking. Are you sure it's a CV joint and not wheel hub bearing? Wheel hub bearings are a pretty common failure, and at least with mine, it only made noise during turns. Is it a "clickety clackety clickety clackety" noise, or is it more like a "whub whub whub whub" noise?
If it's the hub bearing, you have to replace the whole hub, you know.

Oh okay, then definitely CV joint. Too risky, I wouldn't drive it on the long trip.
