Warm(ish) weather means time to get the Mutt cleaned up! LA's Totally Awesome works well.. awesome! For $1 at the dollar store you can't beat this stuff for cleaning nasty tires. Spray on cool tires and let sit for about 20 to 30 seconds, spray more and scrub then rinse, clean tires! Found this stuff and figured I would give it a try, initial results are impressive and just the look I love, I will see how it holds up. I will say though that I would only use it with the wheels on the car before a wash as the cloud of dressing is pretty crazy and will get all over the paint. Now it is time to go after the paint. With this I was not going for perfection, that would take way more time then I wish to spend right now, so I was just going for some good gloss and easy swirl removal. My process changed up a bit but for the most part it was HD Speed with a drop or two of HD Cut on the pad as well for a bit of a hybrid polish / seal. The results were enough to keep me happy, more cut then Speed alone, still wiped off crazy easy and left the paint super slick. 50/50 of the passenger fender Drivers side fender before After Hood Getting to the trunk. This area is by far the worst on the entire car as you can see. The Hybrid mix just literally didn't cut it, so I swapped a fresh pad on and hit it with some Americana Car Care Amerirocks compound. That still didn't leave me happy, so on with another fresh pad and some Menzerna Powergloss compound. This did the trick, but as with a super heavy compound like that, it left the surface very marred and hazy. Followed that with HD Speed on yet another fresh pad and that cleaned it right up leaving me happy! Clear coat failure Even in the shade you could see how trashed the paint was. After It isn't 100% done yet, I still have the rear quarters to do and the bumpers, but it is looking MUCH better then it ever has! We went and did some running around so I snapped a few pics. It's come a long way from the $500 POS I bought two years ago |
