Post subject:  The Time Has Come

It has become very apparent that the Programming Module I need for my 98 is no where to be found. So that sad time has come to part ways with my beloved Bonneville. The car was completely painted in 2016 and the headliner repaired then too. The engine was completely rebuilt in 2017 and has less than 6,000 miles on it. It is in remarkable shape for a 20 year old car. Besides the Module the only other issue is the passengers's outside mirror came loose earlier this year and I tie-wrapped it in place. If anyone is interested in the car reply to this post. I live in central North Carolina. I have pictures and will post them if I can figure out how.

since you love the car, as indicated by spending time, cash and effort to repair her, I would keep looking ..... do you have any more info on this 'programming module?

you can learn to write your own code with this....https://www.programiz.com/python-programming/modules

it is quite a learning curve if you are not familiar with writing code - html, java, free base, and the such but it can be done or you can hire a professional to get it done.

The issue is the module has died, as in non functional. There are no Bonneville's in any of the local junkyards.

This is what the dealership, former Pontiac one, quoted me as what needed to be replaced. A/C Heater Programmer Module, part # 16258362. Websites that list it have it going for $400. Like I said above, no one has it.

ok, I see, this site claims they have it in stock - no price - may be lucky if you call them

I have, there are a half dozen sites, none actually have any. I have even placed an order, paid, and then had them call me and say they don't have any and realistically don't ever expect to get it again. The basic problem is it's a 20 year old niche market car where there is no demand for aftermarket parts. So as much as I hate it it's time to move on instead of dreading the next unavailable part failure. I do appreciate you trying to help.

has your analysis concluded that your blower motor (fan) is the only problem or are there other definite symptoms to indicate the program module has failed. I ask because in my experience the blower motor control module (BMCM) is a more likely failure of the no fan. in which case Rock Auto use to stock the BMCM.

The dealership had the car a week because the techs, read parts changers, couldn't figure it out. It took the Shop Manager, whom I was told is Old School, to figure it out. Since I am not a mechanic or car tech I can only assume that they checked the blower and other components before narrowing it down to the Programmer. I just don't want to toss more money at it blindly trying parts out.
