We just got back from our 7 day vacation for our wedding anniversary. I backed the Buick out of its spot to go pick up our dogs from our parents, and it left it's first puddle of oil ever on the ground while we were gone :sadeyz:

It's finally starting to show its age. Let the summer maintenance commence.

I haven't had a chance to get under it and clean if off yet (too sunburned lol), but I'm suspecting the pan gasket likely. I know it's had a slow seep in the past, and I haven't noticed too much dripping from the valve covers, but I'm going to replace them all when I do my upper intake gasket next week. Just gotta pick up a new inch pound torque wrench and wait for my parts to come in.

Just to make sure I have everything before I order, for doing the valve cover gaskets, oil pan gasket, and UIM gasket, is this all I'll need?

Oil pan gasket
Valve cover gaskets
UIM/TB Gasket set
Injector O-rings
oil and filter
coolant

I just want to make sure before I order I"m not missing anything crucial lol.

Well I went ahead and ordered all the gaskets, including the pan/windage tray combo gasket...... $49 for everything including free shipping! I love Amazon  According to Autozone and rockauto, that saved me over $40. So the parts should be here on Thursday, and hopefully I'll have good weather on my off days next week to get started.

Anything special I should know about doing the pan gasket? I know the UIM and valve covers should be pretty easy to take care off *knock on wood*

You will probably want to use some ultra black RTV at the joint between the timing cover and block and oil pan as well as the joint by the rear cover. It's about a 50/50 if the pan gasket will seal there.

Thanks Matt, I'll pick up some rtv when I get fluids at auto zone this week. Hopefully it looks nice and clean in there after all those miles. It will also be interesting to see how the sleeved upper intake has been holding up compared to stock, I've got almost 50k on this one so far.

Well I got everything buttoned back up today. No more vacuum leak, and hopefully no more oil leaks either hahah. I hit a few snags (IAC screw snapped at the head while removing it), but other than that things went pretty smoothly. I still need to wash the engine bay, but I'm happy with how it turned out. I still haven't decided if I want to paint the intake, and I need to get silver plug wires, but that will come later lol.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure I picked up AT LEAST 150 whp with the color mods, those are worth way more than stickers.

Ok now that you have all of that dealt with... add a PLOG on the front and tune the front injectors to flow 2% more..

Agreed, I wanted to do something different color wise since most people tend to go red and silver.

Hopefully I can afford to put some go fast bits on it eventually. The plan as of now is to put a PLOG, ported rear manifold, and ER rockers in it eventually and a tune, but with saving for a house and family planning, the chances of that happening are slim :(
