Hello All! I'm new here and need some direction with finding a cause for repeated blowing the fuse for the interior lights in my '05 GXP. This happened first last summer and blew the new fuse as soon as I put it in. After 3 fuses, I walked away for a few days then tried again. Voila! The fuse didn't blow and I had lights for about 6 months. The fuse has blown again and so have the 3 replacements, just as before. I haven't returned to try the delay replacement yet, wondering if anyone has had similar problem and where might I look to find the short (?).

The only thing I can think of is to remove all the bulbs from every light and inspect the sockets and the wires connecting to them for possible shorts. This includes the ones under the dash on the left and right sides as well. Then if the sockets look OK and the fuse does not blow with all the bulbs out, replace the bulbs one at a time until the fuse blows and then you have found the culprit.

It is probably the lighted mirrors in the sunvisors. They are notorious for blowing the interior light fuse.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try the visor lights first as they appear easier to check. How do I open the interior lights above?

You'll have to drop the front of the headliner to disconnect the wiring for the sunvisors. The problem isn't the bulb, its a short inside the visor, which doesn't come apart without breaking.
