Ok guys, here goes. 2000 ssei is stalling randomly. Sometimes it stalls while driving 3 mph, sometimes at startup, sometimes while im driving 60 down the interstate.... I have replaced the throttle position sensor (threw the code for it), I have replaced the air idle control valve, and cleaned the mass air flow sensor. The only other things I think it may be is the crankshaft position sensor, or the ignition control module.... sometimes before it stalls out, it will "buck" back and forth, not throwing any codes as of this evening...... any ideas? I need answers quick, limited time to work on it. Also want to add that this evening while driving I noticed that even under hard acceleration, the boost gauge hardly gets over the 0 mark and stays at -10 most of the time. Thanks in advance.

It could be either one. There have been more reported CPS problems, than ICMs. Does it start right back up? Have anyone that you can swap ICMs with?

It starts right back up, but it takes it a few seconds of cranking to fire. I've replaced the CPS before, and remember having to come to a stop in oder to get it to fire.

I don't have anyone close, but the pull a part close to me just for a 2001, going to check it out when either tomorrow or the next day.

This sounds just like the same symptoms I experienced on both of my Bonneville when the ICM went. I have heard that advance auto/autozone can test the ICM but I may be wrong. (I may be wrong on their ability to test them.) I would always just swap parts between my to Bonnevilles to locate the problem.

All and all it does sound like the ICM. If you cant find one at the local junk yard check with harrofreak for the part. Look under parts for sale in this forum and his contact info is in there. Much cheaper that auto parts store.

It is the circuit board that sits underneath the 3 coil packs. U have to remove the 3 coil packs and the wire harness that connects to it. It would take about 10 mins to remove. If your coil packs are not numbered you may want to write down where each wire connects up so it makes it easier to put it back to tether. I will try to get u a picture in the morning.

Took the ICM off, got one from the scrap yard, took them both to autozone and had them tested, both tested good. I'm guessing this eliminates the ICM from it, planning on changing the CPS this weekend unless anyone has any better ideas?

History has show the tests of the ICM to be a crap shoot. Good will test bad, and bad will test good. Put the one from the JY on and run the car with that to see if there is a difference.

I will do that this weekend. Is this something that would also cause me not to get full boost? Even under heavy acceleration It barely goes over the zero mark?

That would likely be a different problem. Where does it sit at idle? A vacuum leak, or problems with the boost control solenoid or actuator are suspects.

I can't find any vacuum leaks, I will check again however. Is this something that would throw a code. I don't seem eot get getting any codes from the CEL.

It would not necessarily set a code. Pay close attention to the blocked off port on top of the supercharger, and the T under the supercharger snout.

Stalling is the least of my problems right now. It wont start now and just sits there and cranks.

Put in the replacement ICM, the check for spark. If no spark, then replace the crankshaft position sensor.

Also try starting it with the MAF sensor unplugged. If that doesn't help then try spraying the area around the crank sensor with a garden hose & nozzle. The crank sensor has a magnet that tends collect rusty metal particles. Washing away those particles may get you going.

If none of the above get you going then you need to check for spark at each of the three front cylinders & check for fuel at the injector rail.

It's possible to install the throttle position sensor incorrectly. Make sure its correct - especially if the boost problem started after changing it.

Spoke with my mechanic, he got it running on throttle body cleaner, so since it runs on that we're thinking it's a fuel problem. Going to change out the fuel filter and check the local scrap yard for a pump.

INstalled a new filter and pump. Starts like normal, but dies instantly, even when I give it gas it revs a little but dies anyway..

Try disconnecting the connector to the MAF and see what it does. What happens with the fuel pressure when it dies?

No difference with the MAF plugged in or not plugged in.
