so within the next week I will be receiving my intense FWI from another member. :bwoohoo:

since I am getting it used it doesn't come with the PCM tray and I will have to acquire one from intense. my first question is this: what screws did you use to install the tray? do the mounting screws from the stock airbox fit or do I have to drill holes for it and find screws on my own?

I used self-tapping screws and screwed it right to the metal. it fits right between the two screws that the stock airbox attaches to.

I wish I had looked at the stock airbox closely before I bout the kit with the tray. To me it looks like it would be easy to cut the part of the airbox that holds the pcm and reuse it. I dont have one in front of me but If I remember right at worst youd need a little bungee to hold it down.

na I would rather keep the stock airbox or at least sell it for a few bucks then hack it up

here is the current plan for the install/tunup since this is my first real mod and the car is beyond 190,000 miles

I was going to order the tray from intense but after seeing the 16.99 + 9.something shipping I decided to check out the lead on the part number from this thread viewtopic.php?f=12&t=22359&hilit=+tray at my local dealer tomorrow

I am ordering a new o2 sensor from rockauto I got the denso that is listed as an OEM replacement.

the evap vent solenoid and fuel tank pressure sensor will be changed with the hope of fixing my evap codes and maybe a few small running issues
after I install the FWI this weekend hopefully, with the next paycheck I intend to change the oil and maybe the spark plugs

anything I am missing please let me know

Why don't you go to a junk yard and get that tray from a wrecked or scraped S-10/ Blazer for cheap?
If that is the only thing you need for the install, besides some self tapping screws.

I might, the problem is there isn't a decent junk yard close to me. the only one is pretty crappy and the guy acts like his crap is gold too.

can anyone confirm what rockauto is saying the direct fit o2 is? the P/N it's giving me is DENSO Part # 2344018

O2 is ordered and fwi is on its way, rockauto and autozone agreed on the denso p/n so hopefully it is correct

Quick question, I have to recharge the filter when it gets here. I have a very very old k&n kit and a specter performance kit. Will either of these do or should I just shell out the 12 bucks for a new kit?

I'd get a new kit. That's just Murphy's law. Anything that can go wrong w/ it will.

fwi and rockauto ordered o2 managed to get here at the same time, go figure. I already changed my evap solenoid to see if that improves my check gas cap message.

so the current question of the day is how the hell do I get to the o2 to remove it. I can get my hand to it but not the big ass 7/8 wrench (which i assume is the right size, it fits the new denso

You'll want an O2 sensor socket (has a cutout for the wire) and some extensions with a U-joint.

Well the only work I got done yesterday was to change the evap solenoid (engine side) which seems to have taken care of my ses lights. I unhooked the battery for about an hour and then cranked the car 7-8 times and no codes. The wife has been driving it yesterday and today and still nothing. Hard to believe all of those codes were just that solenoid.

Work will resume this week after I get better and complete my advance order

Today I got well enough to tackle the o2 sensor. Went and got the socket like eds and went to town, I had to use an extra special cheater to get it off. Installed new one and presto done! Car seems to run smoother and the butt dyno feels good however I am interested to see if my mileage improves. Btw how tight should I make sure the new one is? I used the 3/8 ratchet and as much torque as I could muster with the confined space and bad angle

New and old

And nobody tell my mom about my extra special cheater from when she hurt her foot :p

just installed today, and so far it seems pretty awesome. however I'm having an issue, when I installed I disconneted the battery to reset fuel trims and the airflow and whatnot. now after installation if I push it past 3/4 throttle it will start choking and will eventually start flashing the ses at me for catalyst damage i assume. what am I doing wrong? does it need more time to adjust, keep in mind I wasn't having any WOT issues before today
