Well, the trans place called. It isn't good. He said there is internal "hard" damage. I forgot to mention this in my earlier post, but when you manually shift the car into 1st, it almost locks up and stalls the engine.
He told me this happened to him as well. He said something is probably broken ...

Yet another transmission thread
I have done much research on this, and I really haven't found anything definitive.

I bought my car with 94K on it. I changed the trans fluid/ filter and did the transgo kit then. The transmission never sent any error codes, I did the kit as a preventative measure. For the last 20K miles ...

Re: Which hi-flow cat to buy
I'm going to get the ZZP down pipe and cat. How do I go about getting it tuned? Is there some software I order and load from my laptop? I would do the emulator, but I would think the tune would be better????

Three hockey pucks
What is the over-all height of the front motor mount or the thee hockey pucks stacked on top of each other? I have some thick rubber mat that I can use. (actually industrial conveyor belt material). It is quite rigid, but still made of high grade, reinforced rubber.

Re: Popping/banging turning right
I had a intermittant loud pop coming from the right front wheel when I was turning into my driveway. I changed all kinds of stuff, wheel bearing, CV axle, struts, tie rods, and I was still getting the pop. Turned out it was the lower ball joint that is affixed to the lower control arm. I replaced ...

Re: Clunking noise
Not trying to hijack this thread, but I just recently started getting a clunk after getting an alignment in the rear. How common is this? Also, this is the second alignment I have had done and the *dang* thing still pulls to the left!!!

Re: Popping/banging turning right
Thanks so far. I installed the new strut insulators with the new struts/ bearings/ hardware and tie-rod ends. End links, wheel bearings, rack and pinion are all good. I had the car aligned again after the installation of the new parts. It's is so much smoother, and my 70 mph vibration issues are ...

Re: Fuel gauge, drop?
Fuel gauge has a mind of its own
Problem: The fuel gauge doesn’t work correctly. You are sick of using the trip meter to judge your distance left.
Solution: You need to replace the fuel level sensor on the fuel pump assembly. Buying this part from GM will cost over $400. Thanks to Hans, we have a ...

Re: Popping/banging turning right
My intermediate shaft is shot to hell and back and if the car is stationary and I'm turn the wheels it sounds like a machine gun. While moving at slow speeds I get like a pop or two. Could be that perhaps?
Glad to see so many Chicago land people here! I really don't think it's the shaft. I don't ...

Re: Popping/banging turning right
It's just one pop. And it doesn't even happen all the time. I have about 500 miles racked up on the car since I bought it. It's happened maybe 5 times. But it is almost scary when it happens, like I'm going to lose a wheel!
Btw, I bought the car from a woman in Rockford last month!

Popping/banging turning right
Every now and then I get a loud bang or pop when turning right. I have new struts and tie-rod ends. When I jack the car up, everything feels very solid. The right wheel has a very, very slight movement when I hold the top and bottom of the wheel and wiggle it. Could it be CV? Bad wheel bearing ...

Thanks. I ordered one from advance auto parts. It will be in tomorrow. And I have an alignment appointment lined up at Firestone on Wednesday. I hope I will be smooth sailing after that. At least smoother.

Thanks everyone. I'll just leave it be for the time being. There doesn't seem to be any odd noises thus far. (ABout 30 miles).
Hopefully I can track down some new ones!

Might get some road noise without that gasket in there....
That's what I was thinking......Anyone actually know the name of the gasket so can track down a new one?

Front strut goof
I was replacing my struts on my car, and after I was all done with the drivers side, I realized I forgot the thin rubber cushion between the bearing and spring. Although a good portion of it was worn thru. How critical is this component? :banghead:

Re: Vibration and droning
The motor shouldn't be moving if it's just idling, lol. It makes sense it vibrates more when in gear, as it's shaking everything out to the wheels, and being held against the brakes.
LOL....I meant the motor wasn't moving as in misfiring or bad tune up. The link I posted above about the catalytic ...
