What I cleaned out was a lot of carbon build up from the brushes. Plus some dust build up on the squirrel cage. No finger nails, hair or Legos...

Before I replaced mine, i did pull it out and clean the brushes and the commutator. That made a huge difference with performance. Eventually it developed circuitry problems, so I replaced with a Delco unit.

Since you already ordered, it probably isn't worth the effort to investigate..

Well, I got an offer for 3650 today from the insurance company. Yeah, it had a bunch of miles on it, but I won't be able to replace it for 3600 dollars. Keep in mind, I just put new tires on it (550.00) both front wheel bearings and inner tie rods and alignment (765.00) egr valve, O2 sensors, plugs ...

$400 for 13" rotors, pads and rebuild the calipers, since it's 100 miles from home and I had no time to do it myself.
If you're going to knock any area of the GXP for parts cost, brakes shouldn't be one of them. The maintenance cost increase is marginal.
