Well, after a 30 minute "heartfelt" conversation, they still stuck to their offer. High mileage was the big factor. State law blah blah blah... Only required to reimburse value at time of accident, blah blah blah...
So, he dropped off a check today for 3670.00
Not sure what I'll be buying. I ...

Re: Accident today CRAP!
So, I spoke with a lawyer yesterday. He confirmed my suspicions. The other insurance is only obligated to reimburse me for the value of the car at the time of the accident. :banghead: By law, that's their legal obligation :cussing: So, I am pretty much stuck with the offer on the car. The medical ...

Re: Accident today CRAP!
I had a car totaled a few years ago by an idiot who decided the speed limit wasn't fast enough. The insurance companies only had to give us book value and a copy of their list of similar cars for sale in the area that helped them create an evaluation along with the NADA value.

Re: Accident today CRAP!
Do they know you were injured? Are they handling that side of it fairly?
Yeah, the medical side is being handled well, so far. They've covered all the expenses, and I will be reimbursed for time away from work, as well as my wife. However, I don't know if there will be any kind of settlement. I ...

If you have receipts, fax/email them to them.
Did all that.. I went round and round with them about the cost of replacing a good car. They're not interested. Realistically, I would need about 5000 dollars to get back to where I was. The KBB value of the car is right at 3700, which is what they ...

Re: New member from Wisconsin
Welcome to the club. Until a week ago, I was the owner of a super clean 2002 Silver SE. Got rearened at an intersection in Milwaukee. Still waiting to hear what the other guy's insurance company will give me, but I'll be looking for another Bonneville. Perhaps a little newer SLE or SSEi.

Re: Blower Motor?
Before I replaced mine, i did pull it out and clean the brushes and the commutator. That made a huge difference with performance. Eventually it developed circuitry problems, so I replaced with a Delco unit.
Since you already ordered, it probably isn't worth the effort to investigate..

Re: Accident today CRAP!
Well, I got an offer for 3650 today from the insurance company. Yeah, it had a bunch of miles on it, but I won't be able to replace it for 3600 dollars. Keep in mind, I just put new tires on it (550.00) both front wheel bearings and inner tie rods and alignment (765.00) egr valve, O2 sensors, plugs ...

Re: Accident today CRAP!
$400 for 13" rotors, pads and rebuild the calipers, since it's 100 miles from home and I had no time to do it myself.
If you're going to knock any area of the GXP for parts cost, brakes shouldn't be one of them. The maintenance cost increase is marginal.

Re: Accident today CRAP!
If you were really infatuated with that your car was gonna hit 200k, and gets great mileage, don't get a GXP. Neither of those happen on that car.
Well, the 230K goal was more out of necessity than anything. It would have been neat to see, but I can't say I was infatuated with it. As far as ...

I think that's my plan. I wanted to get a G8 GT at some point. But I'm not ready for a car payment, so I will be looking for a decent GXP after we settle.gweg_b wrote: Well, hopefully once you get things worked out, you might be able to go a few models higher, such as an SSEi or GXP.![]()

Re: Accident today CRAP!
Also, if I may ask, why did you car have an SLE/SSEi bumper on it?
Good eye!
A few years ago, I backed into the corner of the garage, hitting my snowblower and I put a tear in the bumper cover. I found this used, and already painted Silver, so it was an easy fix. My plan was to eventually get ...
