Great car, exception being the Northstar. With GM consoldating dealers, there just arent that many people around my part that will work on one. I bought an 04 with under 30k miles on it. Six months later I had put an additional $4k into fixing the heads, etc, etc. The relationship was now ...

Re: Replacing rear spark plugs.
get a small magnet and stick in your socket to get the nuts back on the AIR flange. You don't want to lose those. It looks like beyatch but it really wasn't that bad once I got into it.

Re: Running rough on initial start
Been awhile since I posted, I had gotten so disgusted with this car I just wanted to forget I ever bought it. Only 33k miles on it now, pulled the plugs and took a compression check, kept getting varying readings from different cylinders, replaced the plugs and both coil packs and still having the ...

Re: Overheating!!!
ok, got the Lisle 75500 Combustion Leak Detector in and tested it. Says test it for two minutes letting it draw fumes from the tank. Didnt change color. let it sit on there for about 5 minutes with the engine running and it finally changed to a light green color. Not sure what this means as the ...

Re: Overheating!!!
Its gets driven about 45 minutes one way to work each day down some twisting country roads with a lot of stopping and starting at intersections. The change oil light now has stopped coming on, I read somewhere that after so many normal drive cycles it would reset itself. I just changed the oil in it ...

Re: Overheating!!!
Drove it to work this morning, no issues. Stayed at 200F the whole 30 miles. Pick up some brewski's this afternoon and pull it into my shop, gonna clean all the purge lines and throttle body, see if there is an obstruction somewhere. This is crazy.

Overheating!!!
OK, a couple of weeks back I swapped out the thermostat and drained as much of the Dexcool as I could. Topped everything back off and have been driving it everyday for the last two weeks with no incidents other than the day after I did the thermostat I got the low coolant light. I topped the surge ...

Re: Wrecked GXP
If you can get in go to the Manheim auctions websites (dealer wholesale) and check the value. Thats where I bought mine. GXPs with around 100-120k on the clock are going from 7 to 9k (wholesale)

Re: Look what the dealer did to my car
ok, went back this morning and it went south fast. I got into it with the service manager, he kept saying I was trying to rip them off in a nice way and that there was no way to tell they had done the damage. Even though there was fresh metal and paint peeled from the inside. I told him I didnt like ...

Re: Look what the dealer did to my car
I was really happy when I left, only charged me a hundred bucks to install the shaft and program a new key fob. It was nice driving without the clunk! Until I got home and shut the door at least....

Re: Look what the dealer did to my car
The good news is that I have two witnesses, the guys who picked me up this morning when I dropped the car off. While we were waiting on them to open they were walking around the car looking at it because its the first time they had seen a GXP. Will post back tomorrow and let y'all know how it went.

Look what the dealer did to my car
Had an appointment to carry my car to the local dealer today to get the intermediate steering shaft installed. Dropped it off in the morning and picked it up around 4 this afternoon. They brought my car out and the service guy got out and left the door open for me to get in. I got in and took off ...

I have gotten the P0300 code, but no others. Been running Shell fuel in it only. May switch it up if I can find another non-ethanol brand close.

Re: Running rough on initial start
You might have a coil going out. How is the car under load? Take it out and do a quick WOT. If a coil is going bad the SES may flicker and the engine may stumble a little.
Another thing to try would be a bottle of Techron on your next fill up.
that may be it. I nailed it a few times a week or so ...

Re: Running rough on initial start
ok, now it will trigger the occasional misfire code and throw the SES on. Any ideas? Runs really rough for about 30-40 seconds, then smooths out fine. Its like the choke is sticking closed if was a carb car. I'm not real up to date on the Northstar fuel injection.

Running rough on initial start
In the morning or anytime the engine is cold, when you start her up the motor runs really rough, missing, like its running on 4 cylinders for about 30-45 seconds. Then it smooths out. No codes anywhere. Any ideas?

Re: Front Suspension
Did you check the sway bar bushings? Mine just rolled over 30k miles and had a clunk, changed the end links and it helped but there was still some noise there. Got it back up and looked at the swaybar bushings and you could see daylight between the swaybar and the bushing. Put the Energy suspension ...

Re: Overheating and No Cabin Heat
Change the thermostat next. Bet its sticking on you. I carried mine to the local GM dealer Friday to get the radiator flushed and thermostat changed. They wanted $100 for the flush, and $140 in labor for the thermostat, plus the cost of the thermostat. No thanks.
