Re: 94 SSEi - Hesitation Issues - Summarized
Your O2 mV should be going up and down like crazy, like you noticed. The O2 sensor is constantly sensing and reporting changes and that's constantly changing the fuel map to optimize the air/fuel ratio. An active O2 sensor is good. When your O2 sensor starts slowing down, getting lazy, that's bad ...

Re: Constant malfunction indicator chimes
I've already worked the grounds issue--cut all the wires off the buss and soldered them together. The car was stalling for no apparent reason and that fixed it. The tail light and brake light chimes had been coming on before that and still come on. I topped off the brake reservoir, but don't know if ...

Re: 94 sse stalls while driving
It could always be the grounds under the carpet by your left foot. My 1994 SSEi did the same thing until I cut all those wires and soldered them together. Doesn't do it anymore. One key way to tell is if when it dies and the key is still on, you can roll the windows up or down. If you can't, it ...

Constant malfunction indicator chimes
Howdy folks! My 1994 SSEi is constantly chiming and the dashboard malfunction indicator is showing different lights going bad all the time. None of them are actually bad. Plus the red "brake" indicator is constantly coming on and setting off the chimes also and the brakes aren't bad either. Is there ...

Re: More transmission problems
I guess I will find out. Hauled the car back to the transmission shop today. It's still under warranty, so I hope they don't determine it's something "not covered by warranty."
Sigh.

Re: More transmission problems
Well, I got up this morning and started the car. Put it in gear and it won't engage the transmission at all. Nothing.
Question is, how did I get it home last night and what changed in the meantime?

More transmission problems
1994 Bonneville SSEi, new transmission about 3 months ago. Then things started going wrong. First, the car would drive for a mile or so then lose all gears, i.e., the engine would rev but the car woudln't move. First time, the trans rebuilder said it was the PRNDL switch (which was throwing a code ...

Surges and then dies eventually
The car is not my SSEi, it's a friend's 1994 naturally aspirated Bonneville. Driving down the road it runs good, briefly, then starts surging, won't accelerate, slows down, won't climb hills, and eventually will stop altogether. At a standstill (no load), it idles well, but when revved up (again, no ...

Re: P0112, P0171 and dies at idle. RESOLVED
I cut all the wires and soldered them together. It hasn't died since. RESOLVED. Thanks to all that helped. I'll keep in mind the other suggestions in case we get a recurrence.

Re: P0112, P0171 and dies at idle
This is good stuff! I'll chase that ground first, because this car sat in a field for over a year and almost literally filled up with water from a leaky taillight lens, (which allowed water to fill up the trunk and overflow into the interior!) and leaky doors (which contributed to the interior ...

Re: P0112, P0171 and dies at idle
Thanks for the quick response.
Anyway, the O2 sensor was pinkish when I pulled it. I doubt that it was bad, as replacing it didn't clear the code. I replaced it with a Delphi O2 sensor. I never use Bosch. I learned that lesson long ago. I never heard of Delphi before but they are apparently an AC ...

P0112, P0171 and dies at idle: FIXED
The car is a 1994 Bonneville SSEi. New computer, new coil packs, new ignition module, recent plugs and wires, new fuel filter, new radiator. Car runs down the road good.
The codes above seem to be permanent--they won't clear. I have EFILive V4 which is a scantool using my laptop and a special cable ...
