Best option to fix busted driver's side mirror, glass only?
Came out from work and there was mirror parts in the parking lot below the driver's side mirror. Someone must have swiped it and cracked the mirror and part of it fell out. It's a 2000 silver Bonneville. Half the mirror is still in the mirror frame, then it's just black plastic the other half. But ...

Going to rebuild transmission-anything else to look out for?
Well after 2 years of hard shifting and slipping, the transmission is finally completely shot. Only trans-tune is keeping the thing functioning when the transmission gets hot. Going to be rebuilding it all (did all the pressure control solenoids last year to no help), so don't have to redo those ...

What's making rattling sound in lower right part dashboard?
When driving over rougher roads, about 3 months ago this kinda metallic rattling, or clunking sound, in the lower part of the dashboard assembly, down by the heating and cooling control panel, just off to the right of that. (I have manual hvac controls). I've climbed under the dash and I'm pretty ...

Re: Front end shimmy due to wheel manufacturing defects
Update: Finally broke down and bought 4 new tires last weekend at discount tire. The cheapies, $86 Falken label from cooper tires. Around town no more front end vibration, softer ride, and at quite fast highway speeds just the 4 new tires eliminated about 95% of the total front end vibration I used ...

Re: 2 more possibilities for transmission hard shift
So where is this transmission connector at? Funny one time I had a '91 Mustang 5.0 where the cruise control didn't work and all I did was clean the connector down by the transmission and it worked again.

2 more possibilities for transmission hard shift
Was doing some additional research on this transmission and came across a few other things. My transmission shifts fine for first 15 minutes of operation, then hard shifts when it gets hot or after highway driving. Replaced the PCS and the 2 other transmission sensors, new filter and fluid ...

Re: hard shifting after downshifting on the freeway
Yeah in these early 2000s cars, honestly these transmissions tend to start going at 75k miles. My car has run about 35k on the hard shifting transmission, and it's just slowly progressively getting worse even with the full service job on it about 6 months ago.
So really I need a new transmission ...

If you have a really slow little leak, one service normally lasts the whole season. But if you find that a recharge doesn't last that long, or at least through the summer season, then sure consider making repairs to the system.

Re: hard shifting after downshifting on the freeway
My car has had this exact problem for the past 30k miles. Tried different type fluids. I replaced all the internal sensos, pcs, 3 in fact. New filter and fluid. That cost $550. Still hard shift. Basically, we need new transmissions or a complete rebuild.

It's also very possible your ignition control module is on its way out. They burn out over time due to the high heat in the engine compartment where they're located.

Front end shimmy due to wheel manufacturing defects
With the notorious 65-75 front end shimmy with this 2000-2005 car, I'm wondering if one cause is basic manufacturing loose tolerances resulting in unbalanced wheels/not round wheels, for the stock wheels used for the Bonnevilles. Heaven knows everything under the sun has been tried on the suspension ...

Re: ac doesn't blow cold 2000 ssei
Or you can go to Walmart and get a can of r134a, and a pressure guage, and add some yourself. About a 10 minute job, and you want to get the PSI of the system running in the 45-50 psi range. Will also help avoid the a/c problem of the left side blowing warm air while right side blows cold, which is ...

Re: Drivers side A/C
Mine did this and I posted a reply when I fixed it. Are you SURE you have full R134 level? Sometimes it takes awhile for the can to go in and you need to shake it/hold it up so it seems to pour in. Get a good pressure meter, don't use the crappy ones that come affixed to the fill cans with red and ...

Re: Random Stumble/Cut out
My car will do this once every 4 months for no reason. I blame in on crappy grocery store gas. Put in a tank of chevron and the problem goes away.

Re: Hard Shifts
Get all the shift solenoids replaced. They come in a 3-pack. I first tested mine and had a long shift trouble code. I had my 111k tranny done recently by a local shop for $400, but the side tranny gasket was shot too so that cost $60 their at cost price. $460 total out the door. I didn't have ...

Re: A/C guys, I need some suggestions
I had this exact problem happening to me on a Jeep Grand Cherokee I had, intermittent working. What the problem for me turned out to be is that the factory electrical plug that plugs into the regulator on the compressor was bad. I cleaned it, sprayed it, nothing looked wrong either, nothing would ...
