Re: 2000 SSEi won't start unless foot on throttle and won't

It was the IAC.

When I removed it, the plunger was extended all the way. :bwoohoo:

Put the new one in and the car ran like it should.

Thanks for your help everybody!

Re: 2000 SSEi won't start unless foot on throttle and won't

How can you test the IAC?

From other posts I've seen in the past few minutes, the symptoms my car is having are similar to another guy who had a bad IAC.

Any way to test that?

Re: 2000 SSEi won't start unless foot on throttle and won't

Unplugged the MAF and no effect.

Any other ideas?

I noticed that the boost on the supercharger wasn't very high at 2000 rpm.

Removed the supercharger belt and no change.

Unless I keep my foot on the accelerator and keep the rpm >750 the engine dies.

I have new vacuum hose to the T under ...

2000 SSEi won't start unless foot on throttle and won't idle

This is my wife's DD.

She was driving it Sunday and no problem.

Tried to start it up on Monday and it won't run.

Engine cranks but will not start unless I press the accelerator.

When I lift my foot of the accelerator it stumbles and stops running.

There is no service engine light and the ...

Just realized that I hadn't updated this post.

I replaced the ICM and it solved the problem!

Thanks for all your help!

Re: 2000 Pontiac SSEi - flashing SES - Codes P0300, P0171

Thanks again.

Just pulled all of the ignition coils off and cleaned the baseplate for the ICM and the bottom of the ICM.

Also cleaned all of the contacts that the coils connect to on the top of the ICM.

The problem persists.

The #3 cylinder does not spark.

It looks like the ICM may be bad ...

Re: 2000 Pontiac SSEi - flashing SES - Codes P0300, P0171

First, thanks for all of your help.

I purchased an HEI spark tester and I got a spark on #1 cylinder and not on #3.

Since the plugs and wires were new ( I used Belden Premium 7mm) I figured the culprit might be the Ignition coil.

I had purchased a set of used coils from Harofreak a year or so ...

Is there a way to test to see if the ignition control module is bad? Its expensive to replace parts, especially this one.

Thanks!

2000 Pontiac SSEi - flashing SES - Codes P0300, P0171

Hi Guys,

Could really use some help.

This is my wife's daily driver.

Has been running great for the past 24 months and then last week, had a flash SES light and then it went out.

Tried to start it the next morning and ran really rough.

Here's the condition of the car.

New plugs and wires ...

Well, I never turned it but I guess one of my other 3 drivers inadvertently did.

Never noticed it.

:spanka:

Thanks so much for your help.

I figured it was something much more complicated.

Definitely better than spending a lot of money chasing down something that wasn't broken.

Re: 2000 SSEI - headlights & tail lights stay on: warning ch

The lights are automatic. They are turned on by the twilight sentinel I guess.

The driving lights are on all the time.

I changed the sensor out, but now I think it may be the relays.

The low beams and the tail lights are on all the time until the 10 minute battery saver turns them off.

Not ...

2000 SSEI - headlights & tail lights stay on: warning chime

Have a problem that I haven't been able to sort.

Got a 2000 Bonneville SSEI, no mods.

No codes.

Had to change out the CPS last weekend and when I got everything put back together, the headlights stay on and the headlights on warning chime is constantly alerting.

Also changed out the ICM.

I ...

Service Stability System Warning - C1233 Code

In a previous post I mentioned that I got a Service Stability System warning on the DIC.

Discovered that the right front hub had a lot of slop.

Purchased a Timken Hub Assembly and with much trouble replaced it.

NOTE: You need to add heat and use an impact socket to remove the hub bolts. I had ...

Re: 2000 SSEi - hub assembly replacement - stripped hub bol

Ended up removing the steering knuckle from the car.

Then had to heat up each bolt with a 1100 deg F heat gun.

Used an electric impact wrench and a 1/2" impact socket.

This approach worked for 2 of the 3 bolts.

The last bolt (the one that was stripped out) had to be drilled from both sides ...

Was thinking about that.

Complicates things a lot more.

Have you tried the Lisle Bolt Extractors?

Look like they might work for the 4 o'clock and the 8 o'clock.

Not sure about clearance for the 12 o'clock.

2000 SSEi - hub assembly replacement - stripped hub bolts

hi guys,

Have had Service Stability System message and traced it down to front passenger side hub.

Bought a Timken hub that meets spec on this site.

Have taken off the wheel, rotor, caliper and brakes.

Started removing hub bolts and they are stripping out.

Sprayed deep creep on them and ...

Re: Average acceleration to 30mph & none after that

RJolly87 - you were on the money with your theory!

Just for grins I checked the supercharger to see if it was freewheeling. It wasn't. It was in a bind.

When I took off the s/c belt, it was turning a little but grinding.

Noticed that the s/c pulley was not moving very freely.

Grabbed it and ...

Re: Average acceleration to 30mph & none after that

Definitely not the coupler. Horrible grinding noise at the pulley.

Hope its not the cat.

Think the s/c may have been freewheeling before but now it doesn't.

Hope that may be it.

Just ordered the parts from Rolling Performance to replace bearings and coupler.

They arrived today. Now just ...

Re: Average acceleration to 30mph & none after that

Supercharger is shot. Will not spin by itself. Bearings in snout are so bad that there is 1/4" slop in all directions.

Parts to arrive tomorrow.

Just need to find shop press to remove and re-install bearings.

Ran fine for 2-3 weeks without s/c belt on.

Thanks.

Re: Average acceleration to 30mph & none after that

Wish there was a way to explain it.

I push on the accelerator and the car moves, but doesn't accelerate fast.

Its like there's a rev limiter on the engine.

The RPMs will not go above 2000.

The car accelerates to around 30mph and just sits there. It will increase in speed but very slowly ...
