Re: Difficult decision
Sad to hear. When I returned from overseas I was looking hi and low for a GXP and found my red one in NC. My wife loved my GXP so much she had to find one. Luck would have it I found this white one in Western Iowa and counted my blessings. Probably the only one to have two Bonneville GXP's and two ...

Re: Difficult decision
I'm amazed that the appreciation for the GXP has waned to the point of no interest. Great cars to drive and own and I don't have any regrets.

Difficult decision
My job is relocating from Florida to Singapore for 3-5 years, can't take a car with me, paying storage fees is unrealistic for these two and I have the other two Bonneville's and my truck to store. My Bonneville stable of an 01 SSEI, 03 SSEI and two 05 GXP's has to be reduced so with the deepest of ...

Burnt coolant will leave a very sweet smell from the rear exhaust.

Re: Idle surge
After many checks and head scratching, I fixed the problem. It does make a difference which of the two Crank sensors goes in their mounting position. I swapped the sensors and no more surge.

Re: Idle surge
I've checked all of my known vacuum connections for leaks and still have an intermittent surge. Most prevalent when initialing coming to a stop and then goes away for a moment and then comes back. Again no check engine light.
Sorry it's been a while but we moved to FL and been busy at work.

Re: Idle surge
TP - 0%
TP - .55 at idle (Surging)
IAC goes from 50-108 counts
MAF goes from 0-12 g/s
Engine load 31-57%
MAP 41-56kpa
MAP 1.06 - 2.69 volts
No codes or check engine light. Ground connections on front lower trans connected, IIRC 3e and clean.

Idle surge
Reached an impasse. This is my wife's GXP and the one I pulled the engine to R&R the oil manifold plate. No codes but it has an Idle surge. I performed a injector cutout test with my Tech II and all injectors cut out with a noticeable reduction in RPM. Viewed the misfire graph and when it surges cly ...

GXP oil pan leak repair
GXP trials and tribulations….Fixed the oil pan leak but the car Gods were not kind.. All I can say is, pull the engine to make your life easier if easy can be used with a Northstar. I tried to do this in the car and if you can, God bless you! Two of the main bolts broke removing them....sigh...but I ...

Re: O2 sensor locations
There's 3 O2 sensors, one on each manifold and rear of Cat. The 2 on the manifold I can not lie, are a royal PIA to change.

Re: 2002 SSEI
The drivers temp had a split gear at almost the end of travel and the mode selector had me going that I could control the actuator with my scam tool and not the head unit. What convinced me was comparing the counts between my other car wasn't the same.

Re: Bonneville GXP's in 2017
I currently have two SSEI's and two GXP's. My experience mirrors what others on here have said many times before. My opinion is no matter who makes what, they are machines and they break. I love the German engineering but they get way out in left field all the time. Simple is NOT in a German ...

Re: 2002 SSEI
looks like its the blend actuator or the head unit: you can inspect the door blend to see if it can move to all positions while you change settings.
I can use my scanner to move the actuator from floor to defrost or defrost to floor, so I don't see where I have a bad actuator. Head unit is what ...

2002 SSEI
I have an issue with my auto climate control. Never had any issues til I went out the other morning and only had center duct mode. No other modes would work when selected. Took my Tech 2 and recalibrated all the HVAC actuator control motors and still nothing. The hot and cold actuators will function ...

Re: Bad crank position sensor - any way to get the car start
Sometimes a bad CPS will take out the ignition module. Ignition modules don't like a bad CPS.
