Re: Black Wheels

Something simple that I did to my wheels, ..., Added a thin vinyl stripe.
Sure, it's odd, ..., but different, & you'd never notice how it was done until you walked right up to it.

Re: Black Wheels

Not a fan of totally black wheels. They look like snow tire rims w/o hubcaps to me. Or donut tires.

Black on black on black is so monochromatic; even more so than a silver car with silver painted alloys. A little wheel color contrast seems necessary to make that black paint pop. How about chromed ...

Re: Was does a 208k mile 3800 look like?

The car was an Oregon car until 2009 when my daughter took it to Ohio.

Does the clear coat on all '95's always fail? Ours is dark green, but so far no clear coat fade. The orig. owner garaged it, but it sleeps outdoors in front of our house now...Does UV make the clear peel?

Wow, 208k, in the Rust Belt ? That engine compartment looks as clean as the one in my wife's Oregon garaged '95 with 112,000 miles. (She's gonna have to drive that car for a loooooooong time...)

Why are the valve covers black? Did you wrinkle paint them?

And one size does not fit all. It's OK to have an opinion that doesn't agree with everyone else's.

Re: Plasti-Dipped my wheels

Wouldn't it be simpler to get 'The Commando Look' by just installing black snow tire steel wheels without hubcaps?

Plasti-Dip makes nice Summer alloy wheels resemble a pickup truck bedliner. I like it for pliers...

At least it comes off easier than paint.

Re: floor board

Take a look at your coolant overflow tank.

I had a coolant smell inside my wife's Bonneville only when it was warmed up to operating temperature, but no wet carpet, no coolant loss, and no leaky heater core. I started to worry about the plenum, LIM gaskets, plastic coolant elbows; the common ...

How Hard Could It Be???

I just picked up a niiiice clean set of painted 2002 GP alloys on Craigslist for $100. They're the 5 straight spoke type, in excellent shape, with zero curb rash and nary a scratch on their silver paint.

Though they'd already be an upgrade over the 15" steelies and factory hubcaps on my wife's car ...

Re: L27 Lower intake manifold gasket replacement.

Why are you reverting to a 195* thermostat during the warmest season of the year, are you having problems with running a 180* ? And your new 195 won't have a new rubber thermostat seal in the box with it ; need to buy it separately...

I wasn't aware that L27 has the same problem with the EGR riser ...

Score ! That's a niiice '92 !!!

Interesting that they painted out the OEM alloy rims car body color w/ a polished lip. (Or were they offered by Pontiac dealers in paint colors other than white?)

I am still investigating doing something similar with a set of the 'usual suspects' 1997 Bonneville 5 ...

Re: What Oil Filter Wrench Do You Guys Like?

Installed hand-tight = removes hand-tight, in most cases.

I bought a metal 'cup' style wrench to fit the end of the oil filter on my Ford Ranger work rig, but the last and only time I've needed to use it was to remove the one that was installed when I purchased the truck. Bill Clinton was ...

Re: Landed a sweet LSS

An upstream O2 sensor is not difficult to replace, and the worn old sensor is likely the reason for your reduced MPG's, as it's probably misleading your car's computer into thinking the engine is running 'lean', and causing it to use excess fuel.

Pre-soak its threads with a few squirts of 'PB ...

I'm not a fan of the 'oversized 'bling!' rims with bicycle tires' look.

Too much metal, not enough rubber.

Cartoon-ish.

But your opinion is the only one that truly matters. If you like 'em, they're perfect.

Re: The Hell of removing sway bar end links

Kroil did not budge the endlinks on the Buick Rainier I did a couple weeks ago, but I did not apply it and then let it sit a bit either.

I do really like Kroil, have not used it much on car stuff, I have it for my gun cleaning / working on tool kit.

Yeah, on the really tough stuff it helps a ...
