Re: HVAC Blower intermittent and noisy

I believe I also pulled down the carpet to allow a little room for the motor to drop down before I could angle it to pull out the
rest of the way.

Hardest part, besides lying on the floor was holding the new motor up in place to
get the screw started in. It's been so long I can't remember if I laid ...

Re: Stalling issue.

If I were helping a friend with that car, I'd want to know how many miles are on it?

I'd switch out the battery with a known good battery that vents through the tubes.

I'd check the ground cable on the battery under the rear seat. I'd remove the ground on the floor and clean the connections to ...

Re: Rough start/poor idle on cold start

I would suspect the coolant temperature sensor is not giving the right reading to the computer.
If it's saying the engine is warmer than it really is, the computer will not be feeding enough
gasoline for the cold temp of the engine--essentially not giving enough choke to enrich the
mixture in the ...

Re: Car pulls left while braking over 40 mph

Has the rear suspension been gone over carefully. I recall some parts back there could rust through. The rear might be changing the wheel orientation during braking.

Re: Stalling in stop and go traffic.

The ignition won't turn over for about 10 minutes and then, suddenly, the engine turns over and we're on our way again!.

Clarify what happens:

Are you saying the engine won't even crank when you turn the key? It won't even rotate?

Are you saying the car does crank over but there's no firing ...

Re: Reset check engine light?

How about #8 and #19 under the hood in fuse box.
Powertrain control module battery
Powertrain control module ignition.

That's on the 2003 leSabre per the owner manual pdf from their website.
The Bonneville should be the same. Verify with the list on the inside of the box cover.

An inexpensive code ...

Re: Thick white smoke on first start up after sitting overni

Forgot to add, the engine has a vacuum coming from the oil filler cap and the dipstick tube? If I remove either of them while the car is running, the idle will drop dramatically (to the point where the engine would probably die if I didn't put it back in) and I will get a terrible spark knock ...

Re: Thick white smoke on first start up after sitting overni

My suggestion would be to change the oil frequently until you can get the LIM gasket and manifold replaced to stop the coolant getting in. I'm not
clear if you're driving it or it's just sitting in driveway and you're starting it, but I'd change the oil out that is contaminated with coolant and put ...

Re: reset service engine light

I had to troubleshoot some codes related to emissions on my 03 leSabre. The computer runs a leak test under certain conditions.

These may not be exact--it's been a while since I read them in the FSM.
The fuel level needs to be between 75% and 25%
The engine temperature is lukewarm. I don't ...

You can get electrical diagram for the brake lighting circuit on bbbind.com
You sign up now and they verify your address, and send you a link to use to log in to use TSBs or electrical diagrams.

I couldn't figure out how to upload the pdf I have on my computer of the brake light circuit.

Re: 94 SSEi No Crank No Start; With Vats Bypassed

I would check the connections of the VATS resistance replacement that was put in. IF the connections weren't soldered, but were just pressed together, there may be a changing resistance with temperature for example.

IF the resistance is a set of resistors coupled together, I'd check that resistance ...

Re: 98' Bonneville pulling to right and shaking violently

Could be a caliper dragging and heating up the rotor on one side. As the rotor heats, any warping grabs at the brake pads harder than when cold.

Or could be the brake fluid line has swollen and isn't letting the brake fluid back out when the pedal is released. This holds the brake caliper on. The ...

Re: flashing service engine light with low battery.

Did you run the engine for 10-15 minutes to charge the battery up?
Was the light still flashing?

I suspect, without reading into one of my past car's service manuals, that is a warning that your battery is
worn. I use a 12 v pump to add air to tires and sometimes don't start the cars for the ...

Re: Question about alternator/serpentine belt

Could be your belt has worn and slips easily when some splashed water hits that side of the engine.
Could be your belt has stretched and has relaxed the spring tensioner, which lets is slip more easily with a little water on it.
Could be your spring tensioner has aged and isn't applying as much ...

Re: "Check Gas Cap" (Driver info center)

The error will clear when the computer runs a vacuum check and the car passes that test. There are other ways the light can clear, but that's the best one. The tank has to be roughly between 3/4 and 1/4 on the fuel gauge. The engine has to be luke warm, such as after a short drive and it's turned ...

Re: For those who are interested

do you choose to run E85 or some other reason im not familiar with?

I never knew any of the 3800's were able to run on 85% ethanol.
That's what E85 is: 15% gasoline, 85% ethanol.

I thought 10% ethanol, required in most states in regular fuels
without pump labeling as such, was the maximum ...
