Re: Grease! (Not Olivia and John)

On the farm we switched from lithium to polyurea...it doesn't harden over time as much as lithium. We go through a tube a day in the busy season. Dunno how the polyurea compares to synthetic. (or is it the same thing?)

That's would be good info if it was relevant: Tie rod ends are not ball joints.

What the fook is this?

BTW...neutral safety switch adjustment has absolutely nothing to do with brakelights. Not even on the same circuit.

I assure you that you are wrong. The neutral safety switch incorporates the backup light switching. I posted in ...

Re: No torque converter lockup or cruise control, shifter lock..

I was thinking stuck brake switch until you mentioned the solonoid, but then I wonder how the vehicle, electrically anyway, knows where the gear selector is. Is it through the Neutral Safety switch?

I finally got in under the hood to check things out (Cuz someone told me my brake lights were not ...

Don't grease your brake rotors!!!

You don't do that, do you? Are you sure?? The backing plate on my '94 is non-existent where it really should be: right next to the ball joint grease cup. On my car, they are torn/split and grease flows out of them freely. Guess where it could land? On the brake rotor! I have never greased my rotors ...

Re: Grease! (Not Olivia and John)

Since I lube every 6 mionths, I use name brand dino lube or what ever name brand is on sale. Usually $2.99 a tube or less.

I lube at every oil change. I even CHANGE grease sometimes. Note what comes out of the overflow ports (make sure your vehicle has them before you go pumping up your boots and ...

Certainly any agenda is your own. I am "experienced in the field of Knowledge Management" (self-proclaimed) and software development (and other things). If I'm making a suggestion, I assure you there ...

Re: Recommendation: Wiki

Tony, we tried a wiki format for Techinfo on the old forum before we left. It was cumbersome, troublesome, and difficult to manage.

Your experience with existing "knowledge management" products noted. Self-administering" knowledge/interactive sites are possible (that's not to say "chaos reigns ...

We encourage our members to gain their practical and general knowledge BEFORE attempting any work listed in Techinfo. A primary part of this is suggesting that each member own a service manual of some type for their car before attempting any work. Our Techinfo is not intended as a replacement for a ...

bigger rotors but i believe a stock 2000 ssei weighs in at 3750 or so. but i'm not arguing that they didn't screw up i just didn't want someone else shopping rotors to stay away from cross-drilled slotted thinking they were the next tornado air system....

I would stay away from them if they are ...

Re: How to bleed brakes

Start by filling the master cylinder reservoir and replacing the cap.

I suggest removing pretty much all of the fluid in the master cylinder with a turkey baster and replacing it with new fluid. Do not aerate the fluid! You may only be able to get the front brake fluid without some more evolved ...

Re: Brand New Goodyear Tires at 25% Off

Dad has GY Tripletreds on the 2004 PAU. They have restored my faith in GY, but then again, these are $600+ a set new, even at the cheaper places like Tire Rack and Discount Tire Direct.

I was quoted $528 for 16" Triple Treds, mounted, balanced, alignment, stems from my local shop. I'm not ...

Suggestion: Polls (Not "voting"!)

Recently I posted a "poll type" question in the forums (the post about engine oil type preferred). That kind post draws a lot of response, but perhaps only from people passionate about their position and many will simply avoid reading the post because it's not worth the effort to manually extract ...

This post is a bit demeaning,

Not intended to be.

but I'll reply to it anyways... The techinfo at the bottom of our forum has all the information that a wiki would have, but it's sorted by category and is much more organized.

But "static" in that the quality of the information doesn't improve ...
