+ 1 on mine too.
Actually, so does all the cars we own except the truck. All have either 3800 or 3400 in the van. It does this too. Drives me nuts. The Grand Prix is just terriable about this and no one can find anything wrong with it. It keeps getting worse and worse. It is my daughters car. Does ...

Re: 2000 Bonneville SE 149k with loose axles?
Yes I read all about that shimmy thing before I posted this. I have checked and had checked all of these componets on my car. I also have had the tires road force balenced 3 times and the tires are brand new with the little knobies on them still. 2 times by one shop and 1 time by a difference shop ...

Re: 2000 Bonneville SE 149k with loose axles?
I didn't know that there were different ratio's so I can't answer that. But if I reach up (especially on the Drivers side) and grab the cv joint (is that the tripod?) is the the inner CV joint itself...I can wiggle it up and down...quite a bit actually. Both sides do this but esp the drivers side ...

Re: 2000 Bonneville SE 149k with loose axles?
So if it moves around in the tranny...like up and down and all around...lol then it is bad? So I just put 2 bad axles in this car? One is new and one is rebuilt. One is much worse than the other. I will have to look at the ticket to see which is which as far as new/rebuilt. That pisses me off. Do ...

2000 Bonneville SE 149k with loose axles?
Ok I bought this older Bonnie and was going to use it for my DD. I have bought some parts from harofreak to fix it up a bit but I have this awlful shake that comes and goes at just over 70mph. It has brand new tires that I have paid to have road force balanced and checked 3 TIMES. Two different ...

Re: 2000 SE Changing valve covers
I degreased the engine last night in the driveway with purple power and a hose. (not the best way I know but that's all I could do right now) I didn't notice the smell coming in but will need to drive it more probalby. I'm wondering if I didn't get the back one sealed up good or something.

Re: 2000 SE Changing valve covers
Well the valve cover gasket replacements didn't seem to fix the problem of burning oil smell. I can't really see any fresh oil leaking now but it does smell after along drive at a stop light. Any other known oil leak places to look for? I will try to get it on the lift this weekend and look but when ...

I don't know if you should drive it or not. I guess it would not hurt anything.
Did you do the jumper test on the relay or did you just put a hot wire right to the starter?

Re: Changed valve cover gasket, now no spark.
Ha ha our Montana minivan did that one time when I washed off the engine. OPPS...It locked and unlocked for about 10 min on the way to work. Then it stopped and never did it again. I guess I got something wet. I know if I get that fuse box wet under the hood or even if it is rainig a lot or really ...

Re: Changed valve cover gasket, now no spark.
I'm not sure what the problem is. If I was guessing...I would still say the security system or neutral safety switch BUT I can tell you this...if the car does not turn over...(that is does not spin at all) then you can know for sure that the following is NOT your problem:
Fuel Pump
Crank Sensor

I had to say "winder" cause I'm from Missouri hahha JK
Anyway, the back driver window is down about 1/2 inch and will not go up or down. If mess with the switch it will make grinding/winding noises in there. I assume it needs a window regulator? (I swear I just put one in my bmw 2 weeks ago!) Anyway ...

Sounds like a dragging caliper or a bad hose/clogged hose to the caliper.

I got and interesting one...did both my axles on my 2000 Saturday and one side was 34mm and the other side was....wait for it....36mm. Must have something to do with the brand maybe. How weird is that. Sure is smooth and quiet no wobbles now.

Do you have a different key you can try in the ignition?
I'm not sure on the neutral safety switch for sure but I think it would be on the tranny. If it don't start in park it should still start in neutral.

Re: 2000 SE Changing valve covers
It looks like they have been replaced because there is goop squished out some but I will look tonight and try to see. I think they are black. I did see a redish orange "tab" sticking out on the front of the engine. I wiggled it and it was solid. I hope they are steel. One of the old bonnie's ...
