Hey gang,
It's with a heavy heart that I have to report that I am no longer a Bonneville owner. She was totaled in an accident back in July. Don't worry, nobody was injured, just my pride and joy of 7 years. I was really hoping to join the 300K club but I guess it was never meant to be. Hopefully ...

Re: What did you do to your car today?
Installed new Power Stop rotors and pads on all 4 corners. I thought it would take a few hours to do, boy was I way off. 13 farkin hours, a ton of words that cannot be repeated here, and couple of scraped up knuckles later they are finally on. What a pain in the ass...

Looks like we need to install a taller fence.
LOL.... Trust me, I'm a GM guy through and through. This is the first vehicle that I have owned that WASN'T a GM vehicle. We did a lot of research and, honestly, we didn't find any new or used GM vehicle that met our criteria (AWD, decent ground ...

Jumped the GM fence
Well the wife and I bit the bullet and decided to get a replacement daily driver to replace her Grand Prix.
We wanted a cross over so we looked at Equinoxes, Terrains, Rogues, Muranos, Rav4's, ETC.
We finally agreed upon this one:

Re: Shocks & Struts
I'm currently running the AC Delco quick struts in the front and the Sachs air shocks in the back of my 2004 SE. The nose still sits high after putting 20,000 miles on them. The only upside is that it give me a little more clearance for winter driving

Nice score!
Just be careful with the plastic rocker panel covers. They look like they are sagging which either indicates that they were re-installed at one time incorrectly or there isn't any solid sheet metal behind them to attach them to (rusted rocker panels).

Re: Need help with the wife's car.... AGAIN...
I could do the engine swap, but your wife is right. It's just not worth dumping that money into a 237k car.
I put a 120k engine into a customers 1997 GTP with 307k last week, such a bad investment.

Re: Need help with the wife's car.... AGAIN...
I am going to rule out the balancer due to fact that the noise is the loudest when i placed the stethoscope on the middle top bolt on the rear valve cover.
No matter how I look at it, it is going to be expensive to fix.

The oil looks fine. The mechanic said that it smelt burnt but Mobil Extended Performance oil always smelt burnt to me even when new out of the bottle.
I had my dad listen to it last night with a stethoscope and he pin pointed it to the rear center cylinder. It sounds more like a collapsed lifter ...

Re: Need help with the wife's car.... AGAIN...
Took it to my mechanic...
It's either a bad lifter, cam, or bearing.
They can't tell unless they rip it apart ($$)
But it's looking like either we replace the motor (more $$$$) with a Salvage Yard motor or a reman motor (even more $$$$$$).
Either way the wife doesn't want to spend the money on ...

Re: Need help with the wife's car.... AGAIN...
I can try a get a video of it tomorrow.
It does not have an oil pressure gauge, just an idiot light.
The only gauges it does have is the factory volt and temp gauge.
I was really hoping that it could be a bad harmonic balancer but the
noise isn't coming from that area of the engine.

Re: C1235 gremlin
Did you check the connector that connects the rear wheel speed harness to the main body harness. It's located near the EVAP system on the drivers rear. Large gray connector. Check for corrosion there.

Installed the new sensor tonight. So far everything is running normally *knock on wood*.
On a side note, I've noticed that the vapor canister purge valve was making a really loud clicking noise, is this normal?

I bought a new AC Delco one online at half the price the dealer wanted. Yeah, i usually avoid dealer garages as much as possible but they were the only one that could squeeze me in today to have it tested.

How much did GM want for the sensor? Haro's not that far from you, could maybe meet you in Sauk Centre...
GM wanted $250 for the sensor and $150 for installation (1.5 hours @ $100/ hr).
I ordered one online this morning prior taking it in just to have one on hand. Final cost: $124 for the sensor ...

Re: HELP!! Wife's Daily Driver is on the Fritz!
I ended up taking it to a GM garage to have it looked at. Within about 20 minutes after dropping it off they pin pointed the problem. A cracked MAF sensor. Apparently when the mechanic wiggled the sensor the car would die. He showed me a different way of checking too. He lightly tapped the top cover ...

Re: HELP!! Wife's Daily Driver is on the Fritz!
That's what I was afraid of that it might be the MAF sensor. Unfortunately I do not have any extra known "good" MAF sensors lying around since I've never had to replace one up until now.

This just started yesterday (ambient temp = -5 F). Start up the car and I can briefly here a squealing noise coming from the ABS pump. It sounds like what a blower motor sounds like when it has a bearing going out but it's not coming from the blower motor.
